VESPER — The Rift Walker

■ BACKGROUND
OSIC Case File 8-ECHO (REDACTED):
"When Kelvin's expedition vanished at the 8th Astral Gate, the OSIC classified every member as dead. They were wrong about one of them."
The Disappearance
Dr. Elara Vesper was the youngest member of Kelvin's Arctic expedition — a Columbia graduate specializing in extraplanar energy resonance. When the team found the rumored 8th Astral Gate beneath the ice, she argued they should keep distance. Kelvin disagreed.
The Gate opened. The team was consumed. Kelvin's body was the only one recovered. Elara didn't die — she fell through.
Between Planes
For what felt like decades, Elara existed between the Outer Planes. Not Ixia. Not the Patron's realm. Somewhere older — the Threshold, the membrane separating all planes. A place the Patrons fear.
It changed her. She flickers between states now. She learned to pull energy across the boundary, create rifts, and sever the link between a soul and its magic. She returned during the Second Maelstrom, but the woman who came back isn't who left.
Motivation
Vesper wants stability. Her body is deteriorating — each phase costs coherence. She needs the Patron to anchor her before she dissolves.
Seven wants the Threshold for himself. The OSIC wants her contained. Kelvin feels responsible.

Kelvin: "I thought everyone was gone. I'm sorry."

Seven: "You've touched the Threshold. I can smell it."
Vesper: "Then you know what it does to people."
Seven: "It made you afraid. It would make me complete."
Dynamo: "You were on Kelvin's expedition?"
Vesper: "He doesn't remember. The Gate took his memories."
Dynamo: "I understand losing your body. Believe me."
Paradox: "The Threshold... you shouldn't be able to describe it."
Vesper: "You have artifacts from Ixia, the Deep. Nothing from where I've been."
Paradox: "...I'd like to."
Archmother: "You've walked where even I dare not tread. Complete the ritual and I will make you whole."
Hidden King: "What you see as a curse, I see as opportunity."

Tether to enemy hero. Spirit DPS.
Heals Vesper 80% of damage dealt.
Target loses 20% SP — Vesper gains it (+5s).
LOS break or 20m ends tether.
T1: +1s duration, -6s CD
T2: Steals 30% SP + 10% move speed
T5: Kill during/3s after = +4 permanent SP
4 — COLLAPSE (ULTIMATE)

Target location (35m). Rift lasts 5s.
Enemies pulled to center at 2m/s.
Not a stun — can fight/dash, but dragged.
On cast: spirit dmg + Severed 3s.
Vesper gets 25% damage reduction while active.
T1: +100 dmg, +2m radius
T2: Abilities + items disabled in rift
T5: Detonates for 50% of all dmg dealt inside
■ THE SEVER LOOP
3 abilities apply Severed:
-12% Spirit Resist, CDs frozen, +15% Bullet Dmg (T2).
Solo Kill:
Rift Tear > Sever > Drain > Steal SP > Shoot > +4 SP
Can't escape (CDs frozen). +12% spirit dmg.
+15% bullet dmg. Healing whole time.
Teamfight:
Collapse > AoE Sever > Team +15% bullet
> Rift Tear zone > Re-Sever > Detonation
Haze ult inside Collapse = massive echo dmg.
Phase Step Weave:
- Blink through > Sever > Drain (can't escape)
- Blink away > Disorient + Sever pursuer
- Reposition in Collapse (untargetable)
- T2 auto-reloads for follow-up burst
Permanent Scaling:
+4 SP per drain-kill (lower than Talon's +10).
Shorter CD, easier window, team amp helps.
10 kills by 25min = +40 free SP.

- Blink tradeoff — Aggro blink = no escape
