Using party voice chat instantly crashes the game on Linux

This issue has been posted numerous times dating back to July 2024.

I was hopeful that after the last big patch that included a lot of audio updates the issue would be fixed. But alas the game still crashes any time you try to use party voice chat in a match.

Team voice works completely fine, so it's really weird that party voice just refuses to work.

Please please look into this. It's been an issue for such a long time, and it makes it impossible to party up with people and communicate without noise pollution to the whole team.

If I can provide logs or something just let me know. I'm running the latest Arch Linux and KDE.

I found a workaround to this if anyone's interested.

The bug doesn't exist in Windows, so I installed Steam in Bottles with the soda-9.0-1 runner.

Now I can use this Windows version of Steam to run Deadlock, and party voice doesn't crash anymore.

Note that Steam itself has some graphical glitches when run like this, but it works fine to just launch Deadlock.

Performance is about the same for me. It also seems to have fixed some other minor bugs I had before.

Yep, game crashes instantly when using [Party Voicechat] keybind. Even typing in chat, voting at the end of the match, or reporting, if I press the key, it crashes.

Operating System: Nobara Linux 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.2

Im still getting this issue too. Happens when I have any sort of communication with the party. When I am in a party if I type in any way such as in game chat or even to look for an item it will crash. Voice talk only happens for party voice chat, normal voice chat works just fine.

I had to unbind party voicechat directly or else it would crash my game even typing and including the letter in the message xD

this shit is insane, that means the function runs every time you even PRESS the key, and somehow even not touching any voice chat code made it crash wtffff

I thought this was fixed because I while in a party in the hideout/sandbox and it worked great, no crash.
then we jump in a street brawl and this bug crashed my game 4 times (I had hero-specific buttons activated xD)

btw it crashes my steam at the same time, if the party voice chat bug happens, both the game and steam crash
