unable to buy offered item while having open slots in steet brawl

I was unable to buy an offered item during the round 3 buy without selling a previous item. I was attempting to purchase an active item and I had an available active slot. It was the final item offered that round and had 4 remaining open slots but it still forced me to sell one of my items.

I had this today, but it only was concerned about me buying an active item (even though I had active slots) and it said if I wanted my knockdown, I had to sell an item- but ANY item, not just an active.
