Had a game where I died to assassinate while behind the phone booth. Going back to the spot of death, I confirmed that bullets go through the phone booth and can hit enemies. (Match ID: 31367653, Timestamp: Killed at time: 16:01, Verified at time: 17:58)
I believe this only applies to the phone booths near Yellow and Purple walkers as they are the only teleporters not in an alcove.
