what if they added a techies type character but instead of placing random invisible mines you can just enable breakable boxes, statues, and maybe even the wax soldiers to explode

That's a cool concept! Trapping breakables is kind of a neat idea.
There should be effects based on how the breakable is broken (for instance, shooting a breakable should do something different to rolling/meleeing one) but I like the ability concept
