Through testing; tank buster inconsistently takes into account if the enemy hero has resists.

1. With spirit rend + Escal + Giest 75% Amp | 2. w/o Spirend w/Escal and geist +75%. | 3. w/ frenzy 14% Escal and geist amp

4. With just Geist 75% Amp and 14 % resist | 5. With just EE and 14% Resist. | 6. EE and NO resists | 7. Geist 75% Amp NO resists

A set of notes of damage numbers related to tank buster (outlying numbers on right were base number calculations before actual testing was done, all numbers in light blue are straight from testing)

did you tag into the target dummy to make sure it's tankbuster damage was actually being reduced by resists instead of it being a different underlying issue?

you can also check the outgoing damage to see if it is even increased
yea i havent been able to replicate damage decreases but i think whats happening is that because tankbuster bypasses resists it also bypasses negative resists which may be why it interacts weirdly with resist shreds like spirit rend and escalating exposure, this is the same way armor piercing interacts with bullet resists

It just seems to care about shred inconsistently with other Amp sources; Geist 3 I think can be resisted but EE is supposed to be unresistable and TB’s damage doesn’t change unless you are amplifying.

can you screenshot that?
Yeah it’s how the item works now, all extra damage is funneled into EE, so that small burst number you see to the side of the damage combination (in the screen shots, I’m using heist bomb doing 165 with tank buster and 173 with EE; if you take the math of amps and apply it to base damage (first picture for example my bomb is doing around 230 dmg (75 amp + 54 EE + 33% shred) so the rest of the damage ((773)) has to come from tank buster.

so i think your calculating things a little wrong here

so bomb is doing 165 damage is increased by 75% of the third ability of geist meaning 288,75 that gets increased by EE amps of 54% doing 444,675 damage then you apply the 36% shred from spirit rend and then +8 spirit rend from EE giving you a total of 41,12 spirit shred doing 627,52 leaving 417,47 damage unknown

HOWEVER you are not doing 165 damage with EE and tank buster you gonna do significantly more since EE gives you spirit scalling as it is a 6.4k item meaning you will have 192 damage bomb meaning doing the same calculation it is doing 730,21 damage in total leaving around 314 damage to discover

tank buster is true damage meaning it doesnt get increase by spirit damage amp just geist 3 which is a global damage amp meaning it goes from 190 damage to 332,5 damage meaning due to the game rounding all those broken values from behide that i showed such as 0.21 damage from 730 down instead of rouding up we can see that everything is fine its just geist 3 buffing tank buster
