Satanic Barrier - T1 Vitality

Passive
  • +75 Health
Active
  • Gain a 150 Health Barrier for 2 seconds
  • When the barrier expires, remaining barrier is dealt to you as damage
  • This damage cannot reduce you below 1 Health
Cooldown: 24 seconds

Designed as a skill-expressive, early-game defensive tool, Satanic Barrier rewards timing against burst damage while punishing misuse. Best used to blunt enemy all-ins without relying on passive shielding.
On the flip side there is counterplay for enemies to avoid targeting someone with an active Satanic barrier.
 
I like it.
But this item will give a lot of health points for its price:
75 + 150 barriers + health points for investment.
So I would suggest removing 75 health points from passive and adding 2 - 2.5 health regeneration outside of combat instead, as some barriers do for 1600.
 
Thanks for the comparison to extra health! Out of combat regen would work too so that it’s not just a better extra health. But another thing to note is this item has the implicit cost of occupying an active slot (no worries early game but it means it’s more likely to get sold later), no upgrade path to higher tier item (as of yet), and would likely not have much valuable use outside of laning phase.
 
Very cool idea! Not sure if 2 seconds is long enough, but certainly great on characters who like to dive into danger or against nukers in lane.

I feel like if Deadlock ever did item rotations, this would be a really fun items to have in rotation.

Oh item rotations are brilliant! That's exactly what they should add. Does dota do that or something?
 
I like the idea of a shield that rewards good timing, but I feel like there's little reason to use it when you can save up 800 more and get guardian ward. If you cast guardian ward on someone else the cd is only 22s, gives 50 more shield, lasts 4s longer, and has no drawback.

Additionally, I feel like, at least at my level, the counter play in lane for a barrier is already to wait it out and target the one without the shield.
