We've all had street brawl matches that we felt couldve changed if we just had the ONE item drop from the RNG gods. I think start of round 3 everyone should be able to pick 1 Item up to tier 3 in any group or upgrade 1 item to its level 4 variant with stipulations
-Enhanced does not carry over its a downgraded tier 4 or 3
-Enemy team sees your pick
-It's a first pick of 3 in round 3 option only (no 4 man waiting for the 2 sec mark to lock in 4 knockdowns with no counter pick)
-Tier 4 Items can only be picked if you have the item its built from (no round 3 refresher to secure the win)
This would help prevent steamrolling because one side got good RNG and prevent those unfun situations like:
-bebop/seven/lash/dynamo ults and no knockdowns
-close range heroes getting nothing for armor and being useless for the third round in a row
-Some heroes being denied an ability the entire 5 rounds because they get knocked down due to a lack of unstoppable or dispel magic (grey talon, vindicta, ivy)
-Holding onto an enhanced item at is level 1 or 2 form thinking the game will upgrade it for you soon right? Riiiiiiiiiiiight?
It would also not only keep the spirit of the random fun that is street brawl but improve upon the random builds the first 2 rounds offering 6 six items would be great for establishing and pushing players to try new things. If you get nothing but spirit items as vyper and round 3 comes along maybe it would be more fun to get Extra charge for you knives instead. Lean into the weird RNG the game is giving you. The choice at round 3 isnt a pivot but a nudge to a better experience.
Lastly i want to address the fact that in steamroll situations I dont think 1 item is going to benefit those who are winning as much as those who are losing. This system helps matchups that suffering from poor RNG player skill still determines much of the match and if 1 item isnt enough to get your team back into the game its likely a skill issue and the 3-0 isnt going to change because of the enemy team getting a pick. This would make some people think that a pity system would be a better use and i disagree because going 0-2 would be the meta so you can get your build and then win 3-2.
Please let me know what you guys think I would like to hear how you would abuse this system by yourself or with a group of people This seems like a great idea but i have an obvious bias and would like to see why it wouldnt work. This idea mainly came from a match of vindicta where I couldnt fly because 1 person kept their knockdown just for me despite having a seven ult. I had debuff reducer since round 1 and it never offered me an upgrade. So i was just running around barefoot all game we did win but it wasnt satisfying and i throw that game onto a pile of unfun games along side the no bullet resist abrams v haze and no counterspell against grey talon's owl.
