Spectating games "crashes" the client (Video)

Spectating games can suddenly just boot you out of the game you're spectating. This happens every time now. This has become more frequent recently. Never had this before. You get no error but then you are stuck on an infinite loading screen. You will have to force the game to shut down with task manager, because the game stops responding to key presses, even Alt+F4.

As I wrote this I left the client on the loading screen. 10 minutes later nothing has happened and it's still stuck.

Hoping for a fix soon. Spectating is an important way to see how others play heroes and to learn from different item builds.

I'll also add that when on the loading screen you see in the video on the previous post there is a Deadlock logo at the top left of the screen.

When you hit ESC the logo disappears, but you're still just stuck in the infinite loading screen.

I just face rolled my keyboard to see if any key did anything, seems like hitting the shop key (for me B) plays the shop opening sound. You can then hit ESC and it plays the shop closing sound. Hitting B also plays the shop closing sound. Still is just a black loading screen though. I think this means there's nothing wrong with your keyboard input, it's just the game being stuck.

Exact same thing happens to me. I can also hear the shop opening sound when pressing the shop key.

This still happens and saddens a couch spectator like myself whose playtimes on these type of games consists of 30% spectating games.

I feel forced to play the game now to experiment, instead of learning from others. Sad times.

Happening to me too right now. Same symptoms. I'm on Linux (Nobara/Fedora).
