Soul Rebirth doesn't activate on death, instead respawns 80 seconds later at place of death

Happens to Bebop at 36:25 in game time.

Their soul rebirth is activated and put on cooldown, however Bebop still waits the entire respawn duration, only to respawn where he initially died (in the enemy spawn no less)
