Valve, you realise that smurfs are poisoning the dataset you are trying to gather to balance your game right ? I mean, what valuable data you could get from a fight like this ? Now imagine 80% of games being like that. All data is useless. Unless you start doing something about spoofed accounts, this entire project can go into the trash bin.

its just a very old account that never set up the steam public profile that came later, from my understanding. pll that have them keep them that way for aura points

Old accounts have names picked when profile is created, this one is a random string of numbers.

I agree smurfs sucks man and they ruin the fun of players. But I don't believe they are ruining the feedback for balance. My guess is they are mostly looking at number from eternus players which in a competitive makes sense. They could do what Overwatch did and require phone numbers to play... what they should do is require a phone number from the region a person is playing in to access ranked when that comes out. Example so this males sense to play ranked on north America servers you need an account with a usa/Canada number to play. It adds a barrier from smurf accounts also makes it harder for cheaters to get back in.

What if you dont have a phone number ?
Fuck giving phone numbers just to play a game, theres already an account, a STEAM ACCOUNT. How hard is it to have basic opsec for steam account verification holy.

Deadlock should not have been possible to be played by freshly minted steam accounts thats it.

We were talking about spoofing/alt accounts being a problem. More and more competitive games are using phone verification as barrier to mitigate it. I also just mentioned it being just for access to ranked so accounts withkut one csn still play unranked modes. The vast majority of people also have a phone number they can use but most don't have multiple hence why it works as a barrier to alt accounts(smurfing)
