If you use Shiv alt-fire while sliding without jumping (either by having enough movement speed, or dashing on the ground) your alt fire will stop your slide.

However, if you jump and use the alt fire then you can slide and continue to slide as long as you use alt fire
Additionally, as you can see in the following video, even if you stop sliding, as long as you didn't let go of your crouch button, you can still continue sliding again when you use alt fire.
