Very abstract ideas, feel free to chime or reimplement.
I was thinking of a character that is able to eitherpossess/copy allies/enemies, so their kit is able to cycle over. Perhaps a way to either copy their items, or copy your own items, depending whether you hold 3 during a mini shadow style transformation (or not hold it).
I was thinking of a passive on the 3, where a nearby dead player is able to be heavy punched (like a soul, or crystal or something) to switch into their kit for some amount of time.
It could also happen (or additionally) whenever you are damaged by them, standing close to them, or getting heal/shieled by them, stunned, when you are hurting them, healing/shielding them, etc. Essentially, the more activity, the more the gauge for that character fills. At that point, tapping 3 or holding 3 will cause to either copy your items or theirs, with maybe or not taking the shadow transformation idea.
And an ultimate that cylces through X amount of characters randomly, which could increase the pool with tier upgrades (T1?). There won't be a shadow transformation, just a sudden "poof" and they are automatically the next character. Once it starts, it can't stop, and you are forced to copy their items per transformation. I suppose that same "activity" can be put into the T3, where more activity fills up the ultimate of that current champion, so you would be able to cast multiple ultimates. so think activity = more witchmail procs. And before anyone says, the longer the cooldown, the more activity is required to fill it up (like witchmail). I suppose duration and range can be granted as T2 during a mania of ultimates (the transformed characters).
And yes, the duration of that character before the "mania ultimate" per X characters in rotation currently in the match, is affected by the duration on the moment the ultimate is casted.
To make it balanced, it should be a % refunded of the character's missing cooldowns on the moment you take. For both the 3 and the "mania" ultimate.
Meaning, if a character blew all their abilities/items, then it will all be on cooldown for x% of it (something like 60% cooldown remaining instead of being 100% remaining).
This naturally supports the gun/carry playstyle, the spirit playstyle, tank and support playstyle.
The character could be a puppet master, with a gun that links people, and being able to connect multiple people and right clicking could soft yank them together and do more damage, which scales off spirit? The more threadings attached to a target, the more damage it does. The more tethers between 2 targets, the harder the yank is.
Split shot and ricochet go brrrrrr.
Maybe the 1 could throw out a string and could scale with charges? The 2 could do a spiderman swing similar to Marvel Rivals?
I suppose spirit scaling can increase the movespeed of that character (the puppet, not the transformations themselves) as well as the fire rate.
