Ziplines give you momentum in whatever direction you're facing once you reach the end. If you are facing away from fountain and reach the end of the line you'll generally get dropped in pit. I don't beliebe this is a bug, but either way I would recommend facing the fountain when you're riding back unless/until this gets changed.
