Restorative shot upgrade > heal your allies with bullets.

Upgrade to restorative shot that has a random chance to shoot out a medic bullet that heals teammates that get hit.

So it would be a support version of lucky shot.

Support builds could use something like this to encourage buying gun items.

Also this could bring interesting outcomes with something like Haze ult, grey talon split shot.

Problems with it could be: do the healing bullets go through teammates? If it does go through teammates, does it heal more than one hero or does it convert back to damage to enemies? Also is shooting teammates something we would want to encourage during a team fight? It could be annoying to play against if someone is pumping healing from the backline and not engaging with the enemy.

A version of this I would prefer is a simple 500 souls vitality item ("Medic Shot"?) that lets you shoot a teammate to heal them a bit on a short cooldown, similar to Restorative Shot. It would make playing a support/healer style a lot more active and fun in lane, since all most chars can do is buy Healing Rite. The other support healing items are on a pretty long cooldown, so having a little active thing to pay attention to would be pretty fun. Perhaps your idea could be an upgrade for mine.

I dont think this game want a clear differentiation between supports and carries, this will make it so you heal instead of dealing damage. Which makes you a full support. Bad for the current design they are making. Idk about devs plans, but i dont want full supports in the game, as then there is a need to kill them first or lose.

this wouldnt stop you from dealing damage, it would just let you heal when shooting a teammate. Like i mentioned it might need to allow the weapon attacks to pass through the teammates so it can damage enemies behind the teammate you are shooting. I agree that the game shouldnt have defined rolls, but supporting is already a strong pseudo roll. You can see that in tournament games. This would just give that pseudo support roll more options.

If it allows to shoot through and heal/deal damage at the same time its too strong, if its only healing when shooting, its different role with different gameplay. Also pseudo roles is fine as they sacrificing something in order to buy support items.

I dont think you really sacrifice anything with support items. The sacrifice, if anything, would be the 3000 + souls you would need to buy the item. Also the heal could be on a cooldown like restorative shot

You are buying into items that do not offer much utility or have to be used on allies skillfully to make them useful, when you can buy proper damage or stats items with various effects. This is sacrificing your self reliance potential to increase ally power or somehow save them when needed or apply buffs.
Heal on demand is already in the game, item that is charged from enemy abilites and item that just heal % max hp heal with cd.
