I have only tested it on Heroes, but if you tag along to a hero and self cast lil buddies then it will send multiple/all lil buddies to that hero. I use instant cast with with alternative cast being press and hold - however the buffs from the buddies don't stack so you wont have an ally running around with 92% spirit resist...
