Recap Self Damage Statistic Bugged

I've noticed self damage statistic reporting as nonzero for different players for whom it shouldn't be possible. They did not have blood tribute. There seems to be a throughline of barriers, but sometimes the statistic will show up when the player has 0 damage absorbed (while they have a shield item or a shield in their kit). Furthermore, I've seen a few instances of this occurring for players with backstabber but no shields--although it's possible they had a shield item then sold it.

It seems to either be an interaction between barriers and certain items or barriers and certain types of damage, but it would have to be very strict conditions (or inconsistent) because I've tested a good deal of scenarios including overflow damage from sinner's sacrifice, normal damage, and objective damage as well as barrier stacking and wasted barrier.

Once you know why this happens, would you kindly let me know? I've spent a lot of time looking through logs and testing, so I'm quite curious by now.
