Rank System Unfairness

I've been playing for a bit now and got either MVP or Key player most of my games. Everytime I played, I played with my friend, so did he. Despite playing the same games, and I getting better match proformance ranking. He was placed in Emissary I while I am in Initiate 4. Is the rank level dependent on something else? How is proforming better in the game cause me to rank lower? I do not mind being lower rank then my friends, but I just do not understand the big gap between the two.

ranks take varied values into consideration (total souls,souls per min,kills,assists,dmg,obj dmg) are you out-preforming the team when it comes to all these?

I have alot of time played was stuck in emissary for the longest - played couple games and it was back-2-back-2-back rank ups.

I was a similar position to you as I played with phantom+ friends. So maybe run a couple games solo and give it some time.


fyi: when in large skill disparity lobbies you are queuing into "wide lobbies" elo is usually docked for this reason (i dont know this for sure, but assuming as many other games do this eg.cs2 premier)
