Targeted Mass Report Encouragement by High-Level Player in Public Match
Post:
I want to raise a serious concern about targeted harassment and public report encouragement in my matches.
I recently got out of Low Priority and intentionally changed my nickname to avoid being recognized because I was already worried about reputation-based reports rather than actual gameplay.
However, during a recent public match, a well-known high-level player (a tournament/pro-level player) appeared to recognize me purely based on my build/playstyle, despite my nickname being changed.
Because my build is very unique, he seemingly identified me anyway and openly encouraged other players in the match to report me.
This creates a serious problem:
Players may report me not because of griefing, feeding, or toxic behavior,
But simply because they recognize who I am,
Or because a respected/high-rank player tells them to do so.
When someone with significantly better reputation or competitive status publicly pushes others to mass report a player, it creates an unfair social bias immediately during the match.
At that point, my motivation to even try winning drops, because I know:
My own teammates may report me,
Enemy players may report me,
Not based on conduct,
But based on identity/reputation alone.
This feels less like a fair report system and more like targeted social punishment.
I also want to point out that this player was seemingly on an alternate account (much lower visible rank than expected), while still being a highly experienced competitive player.
So from my perspective:
I am matched against a significantly stronger player,
Who recognizes me,
Who has greater influence/social credibility,
And who can actively encourage mass reports against me in real time.
This raises several concerns:
Is targeted report brigading being taken seriously?
Can players be punished primarily due to reputation rather than actual in-game behavior?
Is public encouragement of mass reporting considered abuse of the report system?
How are players supposed to escape prior reputation if they can still be identified and targeted anyway?
I understand that players may dislike certain playstyles, but encouraging others to report someone simply because they know who they are should not be normal.
I am posting this because this kind of behavior can directly undermine fair matchmaking, fair reporting, and player trust in the system.
I would appreciate if this issue could be taken seriously.
This happened in two different games.
