This has been driving me crazy for months now, but I expected someone else to notice and report this.
If you hold slide (in my case ctrl) then cast barrage or suitcase (in my case Q or mouse4) then let go of slide, it cancels either ability.
It doesn't matter if you're in the air or on the ground, as long as slide is held before casting, it will cancel the ability when let go.
