Phantom Strike is currently bugged after todays patch

In today’s patch, Phantom Strike was updated to now ignore the Z height, meaning it now has infinite vertical range similar to Lash’s ult. This is a huge buff to the item but it has created a new extremely broken bug.

For some reason when you jump while holding the cast button, it increases the range drastically. I’m guessing this has something to do with the game trying to calculate if you are above or below an opponent when jumping but I’m no expert. It’s as if the game is flipping the axis’ after you jump.

This clip shows a regular phantom strike and then a bugged phantom strike after jumping.

Something else to note is that phantom strike doesn’t completely ignore Z height as stated in the patch, it only seems to have an extended vertical range, not infinite.

Both Knock Down and Phantom Strike seem to drastically lower their range while the user is airborne. Can be tested by holding their buttons to see range, and jumping.

I'm not sure Phantom Strike or Knockdown's extended vertical range is working at all. When you have Instant Cast enabled, you get a targeting indicator on a target when they're in range, and that targeting indicator is behaving like I have infinite vertical range, but when I try to cast while high above the target (e.g. on the tallest building in the Sandbox, looking down at the patrolling dummy and trying to cast Phantom Strike), I get the targeting indicator but I get a "TARGET OUT OF RANGE" 'error' when trying to actually cast (even though I have the targeting indicator).

So just based on this one test, it seems like the targeting indicator has infinite range but the item itself doesn't.

Same behavior with Knockdown (tho it has longer range than Phantom Strike ofc).

It seems to have a higher cast range (I can cast phantom strike to the sandbox rooftop from further than 25m), but the indicator is definitely disjointed from the actual cast range. 1732279454778.png
