You can't swap the side of the screen your crosshair is relative to your character. It feels clunky, especially considering they have a cool feature of characters leaning around corners to shoot, they can only do it around corners on their right side.
In contrast I find third person shooter games, like Helldivers 2 or Warframe, usually allow you to change which side of your character your crosshair is on with a button. I've included two videos, one of deadlock showcasing how you can peek around corners on the right but have to full come out of cover from the left to shoot around that corner. The second video is of another game (Warframe) to express what it feels like to be able to swap which side of a character your crosshair is on.
