Would love a new tab in the shop for base upgrades that any player on the team can buy from, if players have spare souls and want to help protect the base from attack, as a group they could purchase base defense items.
This would be helpful in cases where a player is carrying a team and has souls to spare, but knows they can't just fight the 1v6, using their spare souls, they could purchase base defense upgrades, like turrets or healing base guardians etc, maybe even summonable minions to patrol and guard the base.
If players are forced to play defensively in a loosing game, I'd really love to have more options.
While other items in the shop go towards the players item slots, it would be great if the base itself had a set of item slots that could be filled by buying base upgrades.
So, if I have max slots used up, but the base has spare slots, I should still be able to buy items for the base to go into it's slots.
Item ideas:
1. Guardian and Patron Spirit Resists
2. Guardian and Patron Bullet Resists/armor
3. Old Midboss buff for Minions (has a cooldown and can only be activated at the press of an in game button in the base)
4. Roaming mini boss to patrol base (multiple could be bought, would def be funny)
5. Turrets for outside spawn (not as strong and have a max HP)
6. Unlocking lockable wax gates from the base, these gates do nothing and have no damage but have a lot of HP requiring the team to destroy them and it could delay for a few seconds.
7. teambased buffs for when within the walls of the base
8. teambased Debuffs for when the enemy team enters the base
9. potentially reuse other hero items for base defense, like "return fire" being used on all NPCs in base
10. a stacking item that buffs all NPCs if a enemy hero dies to them within the base
11. purchasable long range troppers
12. healing booster to buff healing minions
and so much more, this is just items that came to me over a few days of playing, I know valve can really cook with this idea and I feel it's really going to encourage teamwork better for teams who can't push walkers and want to defend more.
this would also improve the NEED to buy items like "monster rounds" or "cultist sacrifice".
I also believe this will bring out what makes deadlock special to so many people who have never played a moba before, it's what made me love the old 4 lane map, managing the NPCs as much as you are managing teammates is such a fun part of the game.
