New matchmaking system puts eternus players in lower rank lobbies due to a hero deficiency

Based on just observing and playing in higher ranked games I can make a speculation. Lower ranked lobbies do not play as many carries as higher ones do. Gun carries from higher elos are being put into lower games due to the new "role"-balancing from the new matchmaking algorithm. There are simply not enough gun heroes that get played in lower ranks, players often times are more comfortable at playing kelvin, viscous, lash and similar heroes instead of going vyper, infernus, haze and wraith. I belief that the new system is not ready yet for deployment and needs to be reworked.1759579181559.png1759579202440.png1759579248701.png

You misunderstand, friend.
They want players to suffer, because that's what powers their code engine. The worse the torment, the stronger Gaben grows.

On a serious note: Love that you say that "there's a system that needs to be reworked" as if there is a system at all. I sure as heck can't see a sign of it. 50+ pages of poor matchmaking posts in a month is pretty telling XD

the huge amount of initiate players that joined and got distributed changed the average skill ceiling in the ranks, there is a vast skill difference between lets say ascended 1 vs ascended 6 games, so the unfair or unjustifiable MM we had back then makes sense now

All they need to do is reset mmr and everyone starts at initiate 1 and work their way up. Not having this placement calibration throwing people with 100 games into phantom even ascendant games because they lucked out on draft/team mates getting carried since atm the only thing that is taken into account for ranking up/down is win/loss.

The game has also bled out over 50% of the players that returned/started with the big patch. So there aren't enough players, again. So the higher ranked you are the more likely you'll be placed in lower rank lobbies because obviously there are more players in those. For me it's starting to reach the breaking point again because it's the same players all the time.

Since they have other testers besides this play test alpha I don't understand why they don't go open beta which I hope would have an mmr reset to go along with it.

I'm currently a ritualist rank and I keep getting thrown into lobbies that are arcanist or alchemist which is a little weird I will admit but then we will have someone on the other team go 20 or 25/0 on us and we look them up and they are phantom rank or oracle and im trying to figure out how an oracle rank is getting into games lower than ritualist. Its crazy that they are throwing sweats in with casuals and thinking that this matchmaking is alright.

Because their matchmaking is averaged rank, not actual rank. If there was enough players on rank I assume the average approach would be fine but there are too few people. 16k players with a peak of not even 30k split into 4 regions across 10 different ranks and 60 different tiers.
