Ladies and gents, from the far Orient, exotic forests and highest mountains comes mysterious Tibetan monk with out of this world connections! I present to you fantastic Sheva! Look at her and her strange vine-like companion! How elegantly she moves, how swift she is!
Well she is actually an Indian girl who was part of a British expedition to Tibet and got infected with strange fungi parasite that latched onto her spine. She adopted nickname Sheva, since locals called her shéwa and backed away from her. Shéwa stands for "parasite". Now she is in New York and looks for a Patron to get her rid of this parasitic shroom before it enters her brain and takes full control.
Sheva has two vines stemming from her spine that usually coil around her temples. Their main gameplay purpose is to execute abilities (and zip around). Sheva also wields sawguns attached to each hand that fire in medium slow automatic fashion. She also uses these guns for performing brutal blunt melee.
1. Ability - "Back off!" Vines react to imminent danger posed to Sheva and push it away from her applying a decaying stack of spores. As heroes usually perform voicelines attached to their abilities Sheva could exclaim a sort of "Thank you, I guess," regarding the parasite.
2. Ability - "Parasitic spores" Parasite releases a cloud of spores that damage any living enemy around Sheva and apply a decaying stack of spores to heroes caught in it. For each stack of spores currently active, Sheva heals a portion of health. During this ability Sheva could be expressing a kind of "Sorry, doctor's orders!" regarding it as an involuntary action.
3. Ability - "Sticky Situation" Vines lash out to environment or a friendly hero and attach to them pulling Sheva in that direction. Of course she could be grumpy about being pulled in way or another. ("Hey, I wanted to go that way!")
4. Ability - "Possession" The parasite is able to take a temporary hold of Sheva and control her. It lifts her body up using the vines for locomotion (thus providing reach and movement speed), giving her melee damage and damage reduction/decaying overhealth (she cannot use guns while possessed perhaps) and applying stacks of spores with hits. When entering possession she could exclaim a sort of horrific "Run!" or "I can't hold it..."
She is about dynamic movement and synergy via applying and using the spores in a defensive/beneficial way (as opposed to Shiv who applies bleeds offensively). Of course all along - you, the player, are the parasite, you are taking control.
Please share your thoughts, I think someone like her would be a really interesting character! Cheers.
