Melee changes

Eh. As someone who has many hours in Chivalry II type games when I see people complain about parry systems makes me a little uneasy how little people know about melee combat.

Parrying and riposting are the core mechanics in any melee game. Heck, in real life too. Right now there's just 2 melee attacks and 1 parry. No riposte.

What I would love to see is a riposte move out of a successful parry, that isn't super strong, but does something. Like punches the person up or allows a throw move, or an AoE strike that hits all around you.

The stun from Parry taken down a little, but also with these changes heavy melee strike should have a longer cooldown and slightly longer start up. If Deadlock implemented more depth to the melee combat and a whole arsenal of melee items, it could shine as a close combat thing instead of being parried and then gunned. Right now melee is something some don't even engage in at all because their damage is worse if they do that. For heroes like that there should be other options if they get jumped by melee focused heroes that they can turn the tables somehow. Vindicta for example on a successful parry would reset her flight cooldown. Lash could... oh boy, he could have all kinds of cool moves from a successful parry. Sweeps legs (mini stun) and spin kicks someone into the air.

All of these moves would naturally be combos that you don't have to do or trigger automatically. I could see so much potential in this. Since this game seems to already have a crazy playerbase who hate changes and since ranked is here I believe it's harder to implement... fun anymore. They will cry and doom the game on their streams as soon as you change one thing too much or add new things.

Actually we have one character who has what I want. It's Yamato. Especially after last patch. Now you can punch people again for like 10 - 20 seconds straight without worring about parry. Did it break the game? Not really.
Lol, if you're spending all of shadow form's time just punching you're wasting it's potential.

Also your argument is cringe because it doesn't address what I've been saying, which is that the game is designed around the concept of "everyone can both shoot and punch" and the game's core mechanics are designed with this in mind, therefore said core mechanics wouldn't function if you had a hero who was missing one of these capabilities.
Never mind the fact that a long list of items wouldn't work on that hero.

You have failed to present any kind of argument that disproves these points in any way and there are no heroes (present or future) without a gun.
Now, you could go and play a game and just not use your gun if you really want to, but I'd imagine your team would flame you pretty hard and accuse you of throwing if you did that.

Melee definitely isn't weak, It's a little op right now, if anything they should make it so you have to commit to a heavy punch and only minimally let you change direction. The rest of the movement is momentum based so its weird that you can 180 during a heavy punch.
