Meepo in Deadlock Hero Concept

Alright, this is the biggest joke that people say a hero should be ported into Deadlock but I have been contemplating on how it could work and just gonna lay out a few ideas.

These ideas are definitely just for fun and brainstorming so I don't reckon it will ever be ported/added but maybe it could be reworked somehow.

Let's start with how the clones work and how you would be able to control them.

Utilizing the Chat Wheel & Ping system, the clones will respond and act to any Chat Wheel/Ping response that the player commands. This would essentially work like Counter-Strike bots but more responsive and smarter.

For example: You chat wheel to 'Retreat' and the clones will attempt to head back to base whether it is using the ziplines if no enemies are nearby or the fastest pathing possible. This would also mean that the clones would be able to scale walls like Eternus players and not be just walking like Herald noobs. (In a high-level play, you could control a clone while telling Meepo prime to Retreat such that it may path faster than the player is actually capable).

While a clone is in the 'Retreating' state, the player may attempt to re-re-position the clone by Pinging to move again, or 'Going In' to cycle between two states...

In a very advanced state machine, the Clones could react to multiple pings/chat wheels states such that they can understand two or more Chat wheel states in a single state. For example: 'Going In' + 'Not Ready for Teamfight' would result in the Meepo clones being on the edge of the fight but not engaging until the moment/command arises. In order to direct a real command, you could do multiple Chat wheels that prioritize the Chat Wheel command (1 exclamation mark (!) = higher priority command, 3 exclamation marks (!!!) = new direct command that the clones will follow).

Now, this would definitely mean that Chat Wheel/Commands/Ping would be extremely important to play this hero and unfortunately the game is limited to 1 Chat Wheel (8 commands) and pings, but perhaps thats all a player needs to play this hero (or maybe another Chat Wheel bind could be added so that would allow 16 commands).

Now, lets continue with the abilities which should explain further on how this hero would work in Deadlock!

1st ability: Earthbind

Works like Vyper's Petrifying Bola but works with gravity and a shorter range and smaller AOE. This ability when it hits the targets in the AOE would root the units for a small duration, reveal units hit by the net. While this ability is on cooldown but the player uses it, it will cause the closest Meepo clone to use an Earthbind towards the area.

Can be alt-casted so that it would make the closest Clones attempt to use the Earthbind rather than the currently controlled Meepo.

or can be alt-casted so that it would switch control to the closest Meepo that has Earthbind off cooldown.

2nd ability: Poof

Works like Mirage's ultimate except only on Meepo clones. Can be targeted on self if there are no clones or to poof on self. Once a poof is completed and the ability is on cooldown, can be activated again to immediately gain control of the clone that you poofed on.

This ability can be alt-casted so that it calls all other Meepos to poof on the currently controlled Meepo.

3rd ability: Ransack

Passively grants all Meepos the ability to heal on attack and heal other Meepos while attacking. Can be activated to change control of the current controlled Meepo. So works like Mirage ultimate again but just to change control. This ability does not go on cooldown such that a player may micro clones very quickly if deciding to directly control clones without using Chat wheel/Pings.

Can be alt-casted to immediately clear the current state of a Meepo clone to act in a default state.

4th ability: Divided We Stand

Can be leveled at level 2. Immediately spawns a Meepo clone at the position of the currently controlled Meepo.

Not sure how this would work with Sinclair... but perhaps it would allow Sinclair to temporarily spawn a clone of himself while the ability is stolen.

Also, the ability to change control of Meepo clones could be changed to be this ability or potentially this ability could be used (activated) to allow clones to act/mirror the currently controlled Meepo.

Lore & notes:

The Boss/Yakuza Hero that used to be in the game files was a good interpretation of the clones but not sure about brainstorming it since I guess it was scrapped.

Perhaps the hero is a Djinn-based character.

Anyways, thanks for reading! If I have any other ideas, I will be sure to post them in this thread!

Meepo works in a moba, or even an rts game, with the bird eyes perspective. But in a third person shooter, his kit would need to be drastically overhauled for it to make sense in a third person shooter. The easiest translation would be for his ult to create clones that follow you around and copy your abilities onto the same target and shoot at your crosshairs, kinda like Sinclair's assistant if she could move around. I also think the clones would be temporary, with the ult having a cooldown. Kinda like Chaos knight if his illusions could also use his abilities.

The complex macro plays you can do with meepo, separating the clones across the map, i dont think can be replicated in this game

Hi, I very much like your idea, but controlling several heroes at once is a big deal. May be there is an option to have multiple players play one hero? Take Cho/Gall from Heroes of the Storm as a reference. You could both play as a one hero from the beginning and then split upon your needs xD

Or you could just have one clone, if one clone dies it doesn't kill the other to make it balanced. And when AFK it will shoot troopers, farm jungle, farm sinners but won't do it too automatically, so you can clear a wave on one side of map, meanwhile the clone is assigned to farm sinners by the AI bot behavior, then when its done it could give a notification saying its doing nothing and is waiting orders
clone could also shoot heroes when AFK but cant move or anything

Maybe u can program where the clone goes by pressing ability, then you get a noclip which puts a waypoint, and it will farm and creeps / sinners in the way
