McGinnis wall question: what makes it auto deploy?

it will autodeploy upon contact with certain 'hard' map geometry (i think the back side of map collision boxes). you can observe that one.

if you mean when it's sitting at the end of a cast, then only manually. however, you can't cancel it; left click also triggers it, etc.
 
There are definitely some places on the map where it will deploy itself, usually when you're trying to cast it in a relatively enclosed space. I'd also like to know why it sometimes deploys on top of bridges instead of sticking to the ground like you would want 99% of the time (I assume similar enclosed space reasons, but still).
 
I mained mcginnis in my test (100 hours 90% played her) and had wall self-deploy right in front of me sometimes without doing anything in some fights. It was frustrating and i though maybe it's becausei get stunned/hit or something...there are a lot of mechanics i don't understand. Although it did felt like a bug at those times. I have no clips and don't test anymore rn, but i just wanted to tell that i had that problem as well. Someone should look into it.
 
Yes, the wall has a max distance then it will auto deploy. I have never had it auto deploy on any hard point like a bridge or doorway choke points. It will go right past it; it has never stopped.
