McGinnis Turret Kill Assist Bug

13 minutes into my game tonight, it said that I got a kill assist on Ivy as McGinnis. I was dead. My turret got the kill assist. But I've had that happen before where I have got the assist and then times when I have not. I'm not sure if it's a bug. Am I supposed to have gotten those assists or not have gotten them?

If a unit is within range (25 meters I think) of a kill, even without doing damage to said kill, they are awarded an assist. As well, if a unit has done damage to said unit with a period of time (15 seconds I think) regardless of range they are awarded an assist. I believe because McG turrets are a unit *owned* by her they count as well. I think sub units should probably be immune to the range based assist system, as I imagine more sub unit heroes will be added to the game with time.
