Magic Carpet Cancels when the ability you used before hits something or activates

It says that doing any action will dismiss the carpet, but things where the player has no action will dismiss it. For example paradox grenade, You can throw it before carpeting and then when you carpet, if your grenade hits an enemy it will cancel the carpet even though you did do any actions the grenade did.
 
I think I know the cause.

Back then, carpet only canceled when you activated an ability or did an action. So Haze ult, warden ult, and other abilities could start carpet, and then do auto damage. To fix this, they probably checked for any ability damage post carpet, but it just breaks everything else in the process.
 
yes, it's specifically so that you can't deal damage from channeled or other continuing actions and just fly away, but the tooltip isn't totally descriptive of the (i think) intended behavior
