So other new item mechanics have been suggested, namely alternative upgrades, and upgrades that take multiple unrelated components. I do think there is a potential issue with the item list that limits other items from being created though, and that's how strong all these items can be together.
For instance what if eventually there are 4 tier 1-3 weapon items, vitality items, and spirit items, that all increase melee damage. Melee builds would be bonkers if that's the case! Can't be done! But that's a problem, because it limits the ability to add new items. So here is a proposal to fix that: Linked Items. If you get one, you can't get the other.
So you could have spirit strike linked with Shadow Punch, which I will provide below, meaning that you can only get one tier 1 Spirit melee item.
