Lettie, The Mime That Sees All

the reception to her was pretty good so I decided to finally post her here. some aspects are still WIP but her basic info and kit are done! (also apologies if the thread is horribly made, I’m posting this from mobile 😭)

I don’t have stats figured out for her kit. (admittedly I’m still learning how to play Deadlock so I don’t have the knowledge for that)

(I’ll share the text for easier reading:)

[ABILITY KIT]

FOURTH WALL(1) - Summon a spectral barrier.
A short duration semi-transparent wall that knocks back enemies who come into contact with it.

FLY BY(2) - Send out Lettie’s companion, Chester.
Chester is sent out to mark an enemy. Once marked, their location is continuously transmitted to Lettie. The mark detonates if the enemy uses an ability, dealing damage and briefly revealing nearby enemies. Chester can be shot down before reaching his target and the mark expires if the enemy moves far enough away.

ON THE WIRE(3) - Tether an enemy with a spectral rope.
Lettie mimes a game of tug of war, tethering an enemy with a spectral rope. The tether applies a movement debuff that increases the harder the enemy resists. Enemies who commit to fleeing and break the rope at maximum range take burst damage. Enemies who stay and fight are able to wait out the duration to break it with no penalty, but remain in her range the entire time.

STANDING OVATION(4) - Take a bow.
An enormous pair of spectral hands rise from the ground in a wide radius, mimicking a clapping crowd. Enemies inside of this area are struck in pulses emitted with each clap. The final clap is a massive burst of damage that stuns everything inside.

As for her weapon, it’s likely going to be an ‘invisible’ gun, I just need to figure out the details of it.

LETIZIA VALLESI is a STREET PERFORMER often portraying as a mime. She loves to perform wherever she can, regardless if the place is rundown or dingy or unwelcoming. Practically every corner has been visited by her as she loves being seen by everyone and anyone. It’s something she genuinely enjoys.

Aside from her performances, she is an INFORMATION BROKER working with anyone who pays. She doesn’t care who you are, what you do or where you’re from. All she cares about is how loud your money talks.

If you look to the skies, you’ll see PIGEONS perched on ledges, telephone wires, windowsills and more. Known to nobody, she is able to utilize them as her own mobile SURVEILLANCE. She’ll never tell anyone.

Refuses to work or cooperate with the OSIC.

As for voicelines, there’s two options I’m deciding between:

[1] She communicates through her pigeon, Chester

OR

[2] Chopped up voicelines from other heroes/people spliced together to form new sentences (EX: Jacket’s lines in Payday 2) [thank you to cyber stan for the idea!]

Good design. My note would be that she has a way of pulling people in but not a way of taking advantage of people being in melee with her.
 
I like the idea of the imaginary gun. Maybe it does damage but you don't see any bullets.
I was thinking that, I don’t know if maybe it would need visual clarity or not, I’ll see about getting more feedback so I know how to proceed with it. I definitely won’t scrap it or stray too far from it.

someone did give an idea that she could do the training dummy animations but mime them in the air instead of actually holding a gun which would work with the imaginary gun vibe well!
 
Great hero design and ability kit. Would be interesting to know what are the numbers and upgrades for each ability are for Lettie. Hope it gets added.
 
Wasn't sure how far a mime character was coming along so I wrote a few ideas for myself. Here are some thoughts around my notes if it helps:

I think Chester, her companion, works really well with her overall design, and the possibility that she communicates through him. I also really enjoy the 4th ability you designed for her as it could provide for a really good AOE damage/disruption as a team fighting ult.

Gun- bolt action rifle: doesn't actually need visual clarity as long as it clearly shows the bullets coming out from the end of her knuckles as she mimes - holding it clearly with both hands (kind of like how Infernus shoots from his fingertips). Also, with a well-defined reload animation and bullet sound, it can still work and be implemented very cleanly for the player.

I believe at the very least, most of her abilities would still use some sort of transparent/opaque light gray aesthetic to show spell animations.

As for mime abilities here's what I was coming up with:
1. Motions smoking a cigarette, creating two large ring puffs, damaging enemies that touch the smoke, and exploding in a puff where it lands. (I think this one in particular mixes in well with the ideas you already have as most characters want to have a burst spell, or way to do spirit damage, in lane or late game/clear troopers).

2. Motions a box around herself providing a gray box barrier of health to herself or a teammate. (100% I'm glad we both thought she would have a box motion spell lol. My concern with FOURTH WALL would be it's too similar to McGinnis' wall, or might function as a root like Graves' wall)

3. (My rope idea was definitely the worst, because I was trying to avoid making it like Holliday ult.) Spawning a transparent horizontal rope for you and allies to climb up. (I think the idea you came up with was fantastic, but I also realized a good idea could be after she motions the rope ability, it could be like grimstroke ult or warlock chains from Dota):

Binds a targeted enemy hero to its nearest allied hero within the bind radius, preventing both from moving away from each other. Any unit-targeted ability that either bound hero receives also gets cast on the other hero.
-Or-
Binds several enemy units together, causing a percentage of the damage dealt to one of them to be felt by the others.

appreciate it! unfortunately I’m terribly hopeless when it comes to numbers so I plan to ask around in the main server for assistance. as soon as I get a solid setup I’ll be sure to share it here!
