Lady Geist's T3 charged based Life Drain is not properly implemented

After the 6th Dec 20024 patch, Lady Geist is the first hero to have a Charge-based, Channeling, No in-between cooldown ability.
There are multiple unintended interaction form this behavior
  1. Requires separate cancel key to work properly
    • For players with cancel mode configured to ability key or duo cancel mode, when casting the 2nd Life Drain, the 1st Life Drain is canceled and 2nd Life Drain is not cast
  2. Canceling the ability does not cancel subsequent Life Drains
    • When there is more than 1 life drains
    • Only the odd numbered life drains are cancelled
      • From sandbox, 1st, 3rd, 5th life drain are cancelled
      • 2nd, 4th, 6th life drains are continued
    • While some life drains are cancelled, the remained life drains do full damage/duration
      • They behave properly, respect life of sight
    • No movement speed penalty from life drain is applied
      • Lady Geist still walks normal speed after the ability is cancelled, while draining some targets


I would propose each Life Drain to have a separate tracking box, similar to target box, maybe with different colour, the player needs to lock on the target again to cancel the life drain.
Considerations:
  • Life of sight
    • The life drain visual effect still tracks the target without life of sight, albeit not easy to see
      • Would not be too overpowered to have a tracking box on the target
  • Cancel difficulty
    • There are currently 2 main reasons to cancel life drain
      • Remove move speed penalty
      • Avoid Return Fire
    • I think it is a reasonable trade off to have accurate cast cancel, over the ease of removing all casts
      • Cancelling is rare
      • each drain is long "cooldown"
        • A cancel misclick compound quickly, if cancelling applies to all life drains

Another option is to cancel all drains if the ability is used without a target, but never if it was used to start a new drain. Both are infinitely better than the current situation, where it's impossible to have multiple drains.

Allowing different Cancel Modes per hero would also help.
