It seems there is a bug between Escalating exposure and Malice.
If enemy has stacks of EE already and you hit them with Malice, enemy will take only the debuff of Malice and ignore the EE. So they take much less damage. This happens on life drain and decay. But it seems it's working normally on essence bomb and malice's own damage.
Please see the attached video, the damage went immediately lower after hitting malice.
