Hero specific hot key changes (at least for alt casting) instead change the overall keybinds, including for other heroes.
For example I was trying to change Doormans hot key for his 3/trolley/cart so I could cast it using hold ability button to use on allies. Then in my next game as a geist my 2 ability had been changed so it was not the middle mouse button to heal allies. Despite the fact that I used the individual hero keybinds.
