Ivy's tether causes Magic Carpet to cancel when flying in range of an ally who has previously been tethered.

When Ivy uses Watcher's Covenant, allies you have targeted are automatically re-tethered if Ivy walks out of max range & subsequently walks back inside the spell's range. This behavior should not be considered an action that interrupts Magic Carpet while playing Ivy. The tether being re-established causes Magic Carpet to end due to its status as an interrupting action.

This actually triggers whether Ivy has targeted an ally with tether or not. Simply coming within proximity of a friendly creep will cause the tether to latch onto that unit; this is treated as an action for the purpose of Magic Carpet and it causes it to end immediately. It should be desirable to use tether for the +2 movement speed buff, which can be stacked with Magic Carpet's movement speed buff under normal circumstances. However Ivy actually has to make sure this spell has not been cast if intending to use Magic Carpet, because simply having the buff from that spell breaks this item. It would be really cool to fly around your 2 allies, drawing enemy fire while receiving healing from the tether's effects. That would actually be the intended interaction, and it would be a unique situation & playstyle the game has not yet seen due to this bug.

I had been theorycrafting a new build for Ivy featuring Magic Carpet. However, given how easy it is to replicate this bug in the sandbox, I decided against developing this build and put it on hold for the future. It would be great if this could be fixed so I could go back to putting that build together.

Today's update did not include a fix to this behavior. The repositioning potential as well as Ability Duration AND Ability Range on this item should make it good for Ivy, especially considering today's buffs to tether's Spirit scaling. Due to this bug it is not. Please valve.

Hi, the 8MB additional update today also did not address this issue. It requires a rewrite of the Watcher's Covenant spell logic when subsequent re-casts of the ability automatically occur while the tether buff is active. I would be happy to perform this rewrite myself if it's not a priority for the deadlock team.

I had a conversation with another player who argued that this interaction was working as intended because, when a valid target comes in range of Ivy while Tether is active, the tether attaching to the target is treated as a new instance of the spell occurring - thus Ivy is performing an action. This is not true. If a new instance of the spell was occurring each time Ivy came in proximity of a valid target,

1) Ivy would not automatically tether to an ally while stunned (she does)

2) Watcher's Covenant occurring a subsequent time would cause Restorative Locket to accumulate an extra charge each time (it does not).

3) It should not be able to occur WHILE Ivy is busy Channeling another ability (it does occur while channeling Rescue Beam).

Note that the ally being tethered is happening automatically due to Watcher's Covenant buff being active - except for the last few seconds of video where I am spam inputting '2', causing this UI to pop up informing me "citadel_ability_tangotether_trigger" cannot be performed because I am busy channeling Rescue Beam.

If automatically grabbing a new target truly is the player "casting a spell", it should not be able to occur during a stun, OR while the player is channeling. (Players cannot take actions during stun!) If we want to consider this automatic leashing onto valid targets as just a status effect (result of a buff, not an action) which can occur while Ivy isn't actionable, then it should not interrupt Magic Carpet.

This item is insane on Mo & Krill partly because he has a spell that grants him +3m/s move speed. Ivy has a spell that gives +2 m/s and makes the item feel great to use - EXCEPT pathing anywhere near an ally immediately interrupts the item.
