Even though the entire area in fountain is a valid shopping location, the cutoff for selling an item for full price is reached due to leaving the normal Shop radius. This serves no functional purpose but it will confuse players, as it did to me here.
Replicated below in a private lobby, the item can be purchased + resold for full value, regardless if menu has been closed etc. However if the item is purchased, and a player backs up from this area, even without ever leaving valid Shop area, the item suddenly sells for half value. This occurs around 8 seconds into the clip below.
