Pretty straightforward ability. I understand a hesitancy to add econ-related items, but I feel like this is far enough removed from soul acquisition to still be balanced.
Item idea: something that increases the rate that unsecured souls become secured

Neat idea, I feel as if this would have to be added as an extra perk to an item with its own stat/etc boosts. If it were to have any use it would be for players who are loosely going for an "Heavily farm -> hypercarry" playstyle in which case the item would need to have utility besides the unsecured souls boost for it to be worth it past mid game.

I think it would be an interesting item to see as a periodic spawn on the map that you collect and it instantly converts all or part of your unsecured souls into secured souls, similar to the bridge buffs.. It would be a pretty minor objective, so you could drop in somewhere obscure like in the subway tunnels or something. It wouldn't see much contest, but I could see someone wanting to stop by and grab it before they go in to try to gank or something like that.
