HUGE GAME CHANGES! WHAT IF??? (Dont know where to drop it , just wanna know fans opinion)

3 lines are terrible. A huge useless map with a lot of empty space. 4 lines were something new in the MOBA world. Why did you do this? Who is better off?

Remember that the map with 4 lanes had a lot of tweaks before Valve had a map they were happy with. They absolutely intend to alter the three lane map until they're satisfied with how it plays.
If three lanes don't work after months of editing and altering, then they've got every reason to swap back to four lanes, but right now they've barely given three lanes a chance.

The problem is that people will lose interest REALLY fast, if the only thing changing will be the map. They spent more than a month on a patch, and other than the map, it was just animation tweaks and new models. Polishing the map will take a lot of time and the devs promised to focus on NEW heroes. The game might lose a lot of it`s playerbase if the next few patches don`t anything fresh.

good thing those are two different teams and likely being worked on simultaneously.

I don't really see that as being likely. The initial burst of new players that came from releasing the NDA has pretty much completely fallen off and the player base has pretty well leveled out over the last couple of months. It's even started to pick up a bit more during peak times.

Yes, new things need to keep being added but I'm pretty sure what is currently left in the playerbase is the most hardcore players that are here to genuinely playtest things and aren't likely to leave barring really awful changes.

The new map has been fairly neutral and most of the complaints have been people getting to know the new map. There probably does still need to be more mobility horizontally, but besides that I think it's mostly been a positive change that absolutely needs tweaks to get it right.

And yeah, we do want more new heroes. Personally, I'd like to see more new items more than new heroes atm. The item pool feels a bit awkward right now and there are some niches that I think could better be filled.

The bigger complaints I've seen are the new soul changes, which completely change how laning works. It's hard to parse them out, though, because the map is so much more in your face.

Really? Wasn't aware of that. So do we need to expect another big patch with gameplay changes in about a week or so? Since I don't see what the second team was doing for more than a month.
cant tell if sarcastic or not.....

but

I personally am expecting another balance patch. If they do in fact wait a whole month or two with no balance changes, heroes, etc. that would indeed be bad.

The map changes are the level designers and artist. hero creation is likely 2 teams but might be one doing 2 different roles. Creating and balancing at the same time most of the heroes currently have place holder potatoes models, probably because the artist are focused on map stuff more than hero stuff. I would expect better skins to come out as they solidify a particular characters playstyle. They wont waste resources on improving how a character looks until the character is mechanically functional.

Look at how long mirage had 7s gun before getting his own.

In case you are not being sarcastic:

there are three core teams - programming, artist, designers. These are then broken into sub-roles. Some of these are obvious like character artist versus concept artist. But there are other things like compositor, material, texture, particle, rigger, animator artist. Similar for designers, could be a world build, character designer, balance team. There are probably nearly 50 different roles when it comes to making a game and depending on the size of the company determines how many roles a single person is required to do.

Not sarcastic, genuine guestion. Thanks for the info

np. I have a literal degree in this and teach it to high school kids. I sadly never got to go into the industry because its so chaotic at times i decided not to cuz family reasons.

I still have the dream though. I applied for iD software for what I assume is an un-announced Doom Project. Alas, no callbacks. :censored::cry:

Trying to push through this update but its just fucking trash.

All it does it promote teamfights in one lane.

Teammates no longer care about pushing their lanes.

McGinnis is beyond trash right now. Literally cannot do anything helpful.

Normal match:

1. stale laning phase. middle lane is so big it needs to be a 3 person lane - with 2 it just feels too big. no rhythm to it.
2. eventually a guardian or two falls
3. gameplay gets stale because no one can rally around objectives/push walkers
4. midboss is now rarely done because its a fucking PIA to get to
5. every game drags on for like an hour until one side sorta gives up

If you'll are so sure you have it right why not swap the map back in a week or two and then put out a feeler and ask us what we want.

Youtuber's are happy for the change so they can make content.

Nearly every match now is quiet. No one wants to chat anymore.

You want to know that you fucked up thats your metric right there.

The game is now a chore and its not fun.

And with these kind of changes, if you lost the lane, you lose the game, because there is NO way to comeback. You can`t get free souls and slots by pushing walkers, enemies ARE stronger than you because they have more souls, so you lose 70% of team fights. You can`t steal the Urn buff for a comeback chance. And you have less ways to leave the base and farm because controlling 3 lanes is easier for the enemy team. So, now you wait 20 min sitting at your base, waiting for the enemy team to come and demolish you completely, and even if by some miracle you wiped the enemy team, what can you do now? it`s not like you can counterpush without waiting another 5 minutes for urn respawn.

I am not against changes, but i see nothing good comming from everything that the thread creator proposed. If you want these changes to work, you need to REDO THE GAME COMPLETELY. Change should be done after some time spent thinking. Throwing stuff and seeing what sticks or not, WILL make the majority of the already low playerbase leave, meaning less casual player data to analyze.
Change is only good if there are some simmilarities left, there are litteral scientific papers about how change should be done gradually.
I just want to point out, I played about 20 matches this weekend on new map. Got lost few times. But I had a lot more games where we won from behind (stopped the snowball) than lost to the snowball.

So fun to read about some snowballing , especially in ranked games = ))) 80% of games no one cares about ending game , everybody just running around and fighting for fun. Thats just arcade moba now and seems like its dying for real, rip boys....

I just got the info that 3 fully completed new items were added to the game in the map update, I am glad they are doing something in the background.

Promoting team fights in a team game is exactly what they should be doing.

I had teammates that didnt push lanes before the change that would literally jungle while a walker was getting pushed for free by a massive wave worth 4 times the jungle camp and we lose the walker for free. Thats nothing new and has nothing to do with this specific map.

McGinnis is McGinnis. Played against one no one on my team could kill. Might just be a skill issue.

Normal Match:

1. I actually agree with this. I hate mid lane and how its currently set up. Its hard to control, certain comps can dominated it and stand right in front of your guardian and not be punished. the lane is so wide that you can easily hide and no one even has to fight. Of all lanes, Mid lane probably should have the most aggression as they are they ones that should be trying to take tower first to start roaming. We need a mid/long/safe lane type setup similar to Dota and Lol. I would also like a dedicated solo lane and jungler role as well but the way teams are set up randomly now with no roles or anything makes that not a thing.

2. Obviously? I dont understand the point here.

3. Game play gets stale because there are no objectives to fight over early so everyone defaults to farming until strong enough to push as a team or you get several picks. This is similar to Dota so I am not surprised but I would like them to take some mechanics from LoL and Smite and add in some objectives to fight over. No one fights over the bridge buffs, just like no one fights over runes in Dota. They just simply get picked on on spawn and everyone moves on.

4. Mid boss location is a chore to get too. I literally sigh every time I am trying to get to the pit. This is literally because the mid boss is so easy to steal that they have to make it harder for the other team to get to it. Most people agree this is bad design. Mid boss as a whole needs to be redesigned. Everyone Moba's Boss monster has to be stolen from a last hit forcing teams to team fight over it or a miracle sacrifice steal.

5. Most of my games are 30-45 mins. Sometimes shorter. I have only ever had about 2-3 60+ min games ever. I almost have 1k games at this point.

I dont think we need to switch back to get the data you are asking for. After about a month of this map, they simply need to put out a survey about which is more preferable and why. What is it you like about each map, what is it you dont like. Another thing they can do is have both up at once and see which is more popular when both are available to be played. Unfortunately, I am not sure we have the numbers to do a test like that right now.

Again, no mic/coms was an issue before the map change. Ive had plenty of games (probably close to 50%) where my team not only uses mics but also communicates well and we win. But comes dont garantee a win. Ive lost games with coms as well.

A lot of people ive seen complain about the different maps prefer the ability to split push the map to the point the other team cant catch up or defend because they are so split. This is still not only possible, but a major strategy in pro-play for all other mobas. 4 lanes made this strategy too easy. 3 lanes makes this strategey more...strategic, by nature. You actually have to communicate and work with your team to create ways to split the map in order to take objectves.

Like a game i had the other day where I had one person splitting right, the rest splitting left, and I had urn. Between the two groups, I was able to sneak a free urn and then rotate to help win a skirm on the left and then push that walker.

Is the game harder with 3 lanes? yes. Thats a good thing.

Mid boss as a whole needs to be redesigned.
Yep, they totally should do it, they should create something to fight for , something that take us out of jungle , something that makes us fight as a team and fight not in this underground when we have such a big beautiful city = ))
I already posted solution in this thread

really? I didnt even noticed (or look lol)

what are they?
Spirit Burn: You spirit damage aplies a DPS(can stack). Damage is too much in my opinion, will get reduced. 6k item

Lightning scrol: Gives 12% max hp damage(and +40 spirit power) to your ult and makes it stun for 1s (will def get nerfed). 6k item

Soul Explosion: Your kills and assists cause the targets to explode, dealing spirit damage in an area. Works on creeps and heroes, heroes have 150% multiplier on area and damage. 3k item.
