How does the MVP / Key Players system work?

Hello!
I’m very interested in understanding how the MVP or Key Players system works in the game. I’ve tried to figure out the logic behind it, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to see a clear connection.

Situations where the MVP of a match is awarded to a player whose contribution seems unclear to me have happened more than once. This is not an isolated case. As an example, I’ve attached two screenshots — this is just one of the situations where the MVP selection is absolutely unclear to me.

Could you please clarify:

  • what criteria are used to determine the MVP / Key Player;
  • which statistics have the greatest impact (damage, team support, survivability, objectives, etc.);
  • whether the system takes into account hidden parameters that are not shown in the match statistics.

I would appreciate any explanation.

Although Valve and "Statlocker" have different valuations for the "Key" and "Most-Valued-Player(s)", Statlocker (and some other DeadlockAPI-utilizations) can give some hints / insights.

More details of the match featured in the screenshots of the first post:

Some personal theories of mine:
- Currently last-hit player-kills are extremely overvalued especially in Standard-mode.
- Deaths are extremely cheap.
- Player-kill-assists in Brawl-mode somewhat oddly seems higher valued by both Valve and Statlocker.

If it is any consolation,
you ("Fallougin" presumably) were the top MVP of both matches by the metrics of Statlocker:

How Valve-backend has made the decision on the key-players here feels like a dice-roll.
Only guess I can think of would be some sort of experimental "clip"-worthiness akin to how many games generate the "highlights" nowadays
( E.G. in "Marvel Rivals" ).
