Yes, I am aware of that. It's just dissapointing. I wanted to play and further test with Hero Labs Heroes in PvP with Shop Rework but I can't It's frustratingit's because people are aware there's a secret client, mostly NA players have access to. it's where they actually do testing and feedback so hero labs is pointless now.
It doesn't affect your mmrit's been dead in all regions for a long time now. Nobody is going to play a mode where it's last notable change was making results from this meme mode affect your overall mmr.
I understand the point of the secret client but its a shame that Valve/Yoshi already are separating the community in that way... Already this game is on early development and, after all, we are the testers, if this was going to happen then Valve shouldn't have done the public invites system tbh...it's because people are aware there's a secret client, mostly NA players have access to. it's where they actually do testing and feedback so hero labs is pointless now.
I'm mostly feeling the same about this situation, but I also understand the developers. The initial testing phase wasn’t supposed to get this big. However, some community members couldn’t keep it to themselves, and people began abusing the first invite system. So Valve decided to loosen the terms and expand invitations to let more people test the game.I understand the point of the secret client but its a shame that Valve/Yoshi already are separating the community in that way... I'm glad at least they are testing stuff but the most important thing about Deadlock right now is that we are part of testing something big, keeping everything in "secret" and show it to a fewest pros on a game that constantly has less than 5k-10k players isn't... the best thing. But I guess is just Valve being Valve again, just look at how they do the same thing to other games, it was about time they do the same here.
Even I don't have access, and I have the fifth most messages and sixth highest reaction score on the forums. Making concepts that the developers read quite often and posting lengthy essays about the philosophy of deadlock's gameplay in the private forums is apparently not good enough to be bestowed access to the experimental branch. I'm willing to wager that nobody with the "well-known member" title on the forums has access to the experimental branch. I'd be surprised if any of the mods have experimental branch access.I'm mostly feeling the same about this situation, but I also understand the developers. I think they realized their mistake. People weren’t giving feedback on a pre-alpha game. Instead, they were complaining about the game’s state and playing solely for competition. My point is, most people weren’t there to help test and support the developers; they were there because the game was fun. At the time, there was also a competitive mode, and players just wanted to grind and get better before release.
That’s likely why Valve created the Experimental Branch. From what I understand, it's a more strictly managed version where you’re expected to give consistent feedback and actively participate in testing. Meanwhile, the main branch still consists mostly of players focused on ranking up or just playing for fun. There’s only a small group of us left who actually give feedback on bugs and gameplay issues.
I get frustrated sometimes too. Aside from a few lingering bugs, it feels like there’s nothing left for us to do except wait for the next patch, big or small, so we can look for new issues to report or give feedback on. I just wish there were another way to access the Experimental Branch besides referrals, being a top-tier bug hunter, or being hyper-active across every community platform.
That’s why I mentioned the referral system. They’ve essentially reverted to an earlier stage of testing almost like internal testing. You now have to be referred by someone who, in my opinion, is practically first-party. Not to mention, most of the testers are from the NA/USA (which makes sense, considering testing and feedback hours need to align with the developers’ time zone and server availability).I ran out of time while editing my previous message, therefore I will have to make another post containing what I was editing to my previous post.
EDIT: I'm not mad or anything. Just shocked that the people who are the most passionate about Deadlock, so dedicated that they head over to an outdated traditional forum to type their heart out in both the public and private sections of the forum, aren't getting that passion rewarded. That's kinda why the forums are so low-activity compared to discord or anywhere else. The developers expect you to type out detailed essays within the feedback subforum, with almost no guarantee that your feedback essay you've spent a week typing on gets read. Even if you trudge through all these downsides and write nothing but high-quality feedback consistently for months, then congratulations! You are rewarded with absolutely nothing. Not even a crumb of what's going on behind the scenes, let alone an invite to the experimental branch. You are left in the dark, just like all the plebs who's only contribution to this community is spamming the same ten gifs in the discord on repeat like a bot.
I don't think that's currently possible at the moment, otherwise there would be a lot more leaks happening. What if the people who have the super secret build were allowed to invite people too?
That’s what led to the mass invitations in the first place, it would be like non-experimental build. What if the people who have the super secret build were allowed to invite people too?
I understand the devs too! But I feel that just letting the experimental branch only to pro-players isn't the best thing ever. I would understand if active forums members got the beta branch too, but from what I heard and saw, at least 80% of the experimental players are pros, which ironically enough, they don't understand game design, they just wanna balance patch after balance patch, this forum has a lot of people here who contributes and understand what Deadlock is trying to achieve, even I'm sure some people from here even develop games, but leaving the experimental branch only for top tier NA players is just... repeating the same issue the main branch has; Competitive people who only want balance patch after balance patch, not people who want the game more polished, and even if a pro cares about the game, the main problem is still there: They will mostly or only care about the balance and reworks.I'm mostly feeling the same about this situation, but I also understand the developers. Can we stop with this blatant lie? the experimental branch is not mostly pros.letting the experimental branch only to pro-players isn't the best thing ever.
I don’t know where you got that '80%' figure from, especially when we don’t even know how many people are in the Experimental Branch. The game isn’t even out yet, why would a 'pro' player only care about balance changes? Like come on bro, the game is still in early development. These players are contributors to the game’s dev progress too. And since this is a highly competitive game, of course their opinions matter.I understand the devs too! Yes ofc those contributions goes to the game dev progress too, is still a competitive game, but again, i just think is unfair that lots of people who are really active doesn't have it or even never got offered to do so, all the leaks that we had were from the high mmr discord channel and even from Deadlock pros who ""accidentally"" leaked itI don’t know where you got that '80%' figure from, especially when we don’t even know how many people are in the Experimental Branch. Nah I'm not even mad I'm not there, mostly because I never been active in the forums or directly to the development of the game, I just feel that can separate the community more and again, in a typical Valve fashion, just never communicate to the main community. Can we stop with this blatant lie? the experimental branch is not mostly pros.
Like people are just making shit up or justifications for why they are not in.
I just want to know what are the criterias. What would make me eligble to participate in the Experimental Build. Do I need to sign an NDA or do I have to be clean throughout every platform, contribute more, be in NA, be super good at bug finding or all of them etc. Like what is the criteria. I just want to know that.Yes ofc those contributions goes to the game dev progress too, is still a competitive game, but again, i just think is unfair that lots of people who are really active doesn't have it or even never got offered to do so, all the leaks that we had were from the high mmr discord channel and even from Deadlock pros who ""accidentally"" leaked it
