Here we go! Pretty sure some of Ya’ll have already heard of Epsilon on the Discord and I’ve been working on her for some time. Anyways after a few redos and redesigns here she is!

Note: I will update this with more art and concepts overtime! I plan to have illustrations for how the abilities look etc. Same for potential model references etc.
And of course Valve has my blessing to use this concept, I'm no stranger to NDA's.

In brief: The Military decided to make super soldiers with eldritch magic- for cruel irony they look angelic... and were let loose on the Ixian war. Plus there is no airplanes just airships- so Eldritch black ops airforce anyone? Who needs planes when you got winged horrors instead. Very few expect one's doom to come from the sky.

Weapon:
Mercy’s edge
Ammo: 8
1 projectile per second

Epsilon’s weapon of choice is throwing spears, as a result she can shape the eldritch light magic projectiles on her wrist into throwable pure magic spears. Probably do spirit damage.

Has two modes: Main is a regular thrown projectile/spear
Alternate fire is a charged shot- the longer its held the more damage it does. Spear changes hue as it charges up more.

Passive resistance: Epsilon would have some Headshot damage resistance, due to having a big hitbox for being such a large character. Lore explanation she has a really thick skull similar to Synapsids.

Passive ability: 'Frenzy' - When Epsilon kills another player character she will enter 'Frenzy' mode for a few seconds. Stackable. While in this mode she gains a visual cue of her mane being on fire and looking more feral. Gains increased movement speed and bullet/spirit resistance.

Light melee: Swipes with her large claws
Heavy melee: Lunges in to bite

ABILITIES

1- Skewer
Epsilion creates a single large spear and lunges towards a target. This attack can be used from any angle- can be used towards an aerial foe if within range. A direct hit causes the target to get skewered and stunned for a brief moment.

Damage scales depending on how much Epsilon was charging- The further the distance the stronger the blow. This attack is intended to be the most effective and useful if preformed from higher ground such as jumping off a building or after flying. It takes momentum into consideration hence the charging mechanic.

Think something similar to Demo man’s charge from TF2 in concept but can also be used to vault upwards.

2- Prismatic burst
Epsilon manifests their wings and begins to levitate while creating a ring of energy around herself. Any foes within the radius of this ring will receive damage tics. Ability finishes with a final strong burst of eldritch light magic that does extra damage.

This is meant to be more defensive rather than offensive, its a ‘get away from me’ tactic if Epsilon ever finds herself in a closed off area or with multiple foes surrounding her up close. Can also double for some efficient farming or wanting to get rid of a group of minions if timed right.

3- Flight
Epsilon manifests her wings and can take to the sky. While this ability is active she has increased movement speed, bullet and spirit resistance. Can freely jump from the ground to the air and can toggle from hovering to flying while active. She cannot attack while still in the air. This ability can be cancelled out early by attacking or using another ability. Very mobile- can fly in any direction even backwards and side to side.

Some sort of flying sound effect would be active to warn surrounding players that Epsilon is flying around and give decent chance for them to not be out in the open.

4- Light of ruin
Epsilon charges up for a few seconds with an audio cue “LET THERE BE LIGHT”
Area of effect will show with a faint radius outline on the ground and prism like embers flying in the air within said radius. Light saturation but not to the point of searing anyone looking at the screen.

Once activated Epsilon generates their wings and takes to the air- charges up her power and then unleashes a burst of eldritch light that scorches anything in its radius. The closer an enemy is to the center the more damage they take. Those who were closest to Epsilon would be instantly vaporized. (potential special death animation?)

Works by line of sight and the blast can be evaded by hiding indoors or behind objects that would block the light burst.

Epsilon ~ A Fate’s tale

When the Maelstrom opened its gates quite a few things changed, one of them was how people handled secret projects to try and gain an edge on wars and politics. These go under the radar of the public save for hushed paranoid rumors on ham radio channels, of government funded experiments for the creation of super weapons and soldiers.

Project Seraphim was one of these attempts at creating the perfect soldiers against magical threats… out of the view of Oracles in case they ever were the next ones to be dispatched for stepping out of line.

Epsilon was one of these elite super soldiers. Always on call and ready to take orders without question to see missions through, no matter the task. Their sole purpose in life was to be soldiers who would carve a path in blood to keep the peace… or so they were told.

But She started to regain memories of her past life and began to question her Mission.

Once her creators had caught on she was to be disposed of by her former team. She was left for dead after being struck down and used this moment to escape.

Gravely injured she managed to crawl her way to New york and has hidden in the abandoned tunnels below as she recovers and plots her judgement.

Afterall... she is a living weapon, born to kill to maintain some so called peace… And she’ll do just that towards her deceitful creators by any means necessary.

Creator notes:

Vocal tone:
Epsilon would speak in a low hushed voice, like she’s whispering and still sounds surprisingly human but with an unnervingly calm tone. Whenever she raises her voice it sounds a lot more monstrous and growly with a hint of eldritch reverb- (Think like Moro from Princess Mononoke) this is rare though and she only ever ups her tone if having genuine emotions.

Potential lore bits and interaction notes:
Epsilon is a rather calm and neutral character. Willing to listen and ponder as long as no threat is made. She has a clear bias towards other non humans, especially other eldritch kin.

She’d likely get along with Ivy in some chance interaction on some rooftops late at night. And as long as Ivy would promise to pretend she never saw her she’d be passive and even find the Gargoyle’s plight to keep her home safe noble… but warn that some day she might have to resort to violence since peaceful options can’t solve every issue.

So at a glance she might come off as your average vigilante but it goes way further than that:

She would have sympathy for Vindicta and Seven- potentially being allies with them if they end up with the same patron. She’d see them as fellow victims of the system and would be impressed by their skills. Since she used to be part of a tight military team its in her nature to try and make some new close and trusted teammates to increase her survival chances. Once you got her trust she’s the kind of character you could trust with your life and she will not fail you there.

This should be enough of an ‘off’ hint that Epsilon may not be as they seem. Whatever she is plotting is far from being bloodless. She’s the definition of the path to hell is paved with good intentions.

Epsilon is definitely behind mysterious disappearances once she’s settled and recovered in the tunnels. Either investors or people who would know high society and company secrets. Cops and investigators are stumped since its like these people just vanished without a trace. She knows how to assassinate and get rid of the evidence considering her former black ops nature. She’s extremely elusive and paranoid about getting discovered since she knows her only saving grace at the moment is that her creators think she’s dead… otherwise the OSIC and the army among other things would be after her hide.

And in her case… whatever she wants from the patrons is kept vague outside of claiming she’s gonna ask for the power to make the world a better place, one without wars, without the ‘rot’ and corruption. And in her mind the only way to get a message across is to use fear and violence. So yeah… good intentions twisted execution of said ideals.

YES that's an extra set of human teeth in that maw- human eyes too. Hints at what they used to be! Has iridescent mane too.

3 would be fun if it was charge movement that locks on to enemy heroes and using it during 2 caused you to have greater control over it, like a remote control homing missile
