Zhang The Puppet Acupuncturist
Alluring - Flower - Seymour
Goal: Try to create a plant themed character whose kit leans into gun oriented gameplay.
Appearance: Zhang is a short Chinese man wearing a more traditional style of Chinese clothing. He doesn’t talk much and when he does you might confuse him for being drunk. A flower, named Seymour, grows out of a pot in his right hand. Seymour has a thick stem with thorns in rows down its length. Seymour’s petals are blue.
Weapon: Seymour fires thorns rapidly when shooting.
Ability 1: Heavy-handed Acupuncture
This ability has charges. Zhang throws an acupuncture needle forward at high speed. If it hits an enemy it applies a stacking debuff to their bullet resistance. If 3 needles hit the same enemy in a short timeframe then the target is stunned. If the needles hit an ally, then they are granted a stacking buff to their health regen.
Ability 2: Burrowing Roots
When casting this ability, Seymour will target up to 6 enemies,prioritizing heroes, in an area around it. Seymour then sends out roots that travel towards the enemies. The roots burrow through the ground towards the target and will home in on the target if they move, but only for a limited time. If the enemy is on or close to the ground if Burrowing Roots reach them, the roots will shoot up and cause a lot of damage. If the enemy is in the air, or outruns the roots, then the roots disappear.
Ability 3: Compliant Pollen
Seymour releases pollen in an area around it. The pollen lingers in the area that Seymour passes through. Enemies who pass through the pollen have a debuff applied to their gun damage which stacks if they stay in the pollen.
Ability 4: Attractive Pheromones
Zhang plucks a seed from Seymour and lobs it at a target location. When the seed hits, it explodes and releases pheromones in the area. Enemies caught in the explosion are attracted to Seymour and will move towards where it currently is for a few seconds.
Lore: Zhang was just a normal man who practiced acupuncture in Hong Kong. Until one day, a foreigner offered to pay half of his bill with the most beautiful flower Zhang had ever seen. Zhang accepted and proudly displayed the flower in the front window of his office. However, the flower’s influence grew rapidly over Zhang and he started carrying the flower around. Zhang named the flower Seymour, after the man who had given it to him. Then one day, Zhang picked up Seymour and just didn’t put it down. Zhang is now little more than a puppet for Seymour these days, but Seymour has bigger plans. Zhang and it have traveled to New York City to take part in the ritual. When Seymour succeeds, everyone on Earth will have a Seymour to call their own…
