Playstyle:

Tobias is a character focused on area denial with the help of a supernatural plant he is burdened with. As a frail researcher, he isn't good at directly engaging with enemies, instead requiring strong positioning and quick setups to thrive in teamfights.

Abilties:

1. Feed Me
Single target channeled ability, the plant lunges forward, snapping at an enemy and slowing them heavily. Tobias digs his heels into the ground, trying to keep the target in place, however, they can still freely move during this ability, albeit incredibly slowly, and will drag Tobias with them whenever moving. Movement abilities are disabled on target during channel.

AP upgrades:
- Increase the amount the target is slowed during the channel.
- Lasting, decaying slow after being let go, relative to how long the ability was channeled.
- Grant Tobias additional Bullet/Spirit Resist when channeling. Assists/Kills with this ability now retroactively grant stacks to Ultimate.

2. Propagate
The plant spits a seed out, creating a small seedling that spits projectiles at enemies. Unlike a McGuiness turret, seedlings will eventually decay and die on their own if they're not killed by enemies first. Ability has charges.

AP upgrades:
- Seedlings get a damage over time poison effect that builds up (a la toxic bullets, etc) when spitting at enemies.
- Seedlings gain +20% Bullet Resist and +20% Spirit Resist
- Damage over time effect now scales with spirit. Seedling up-time now scales with spirit.

3. Soul Graft
The plant assumes direct control of Tobias, violently shooting tendrils into his nose to pilot his brain directly. While under the plant's influence, Tobias has increased stamina recovery, move speed, and spirit power, but will suffer from a max health debuff that decays over time once the ability is finished.

AP upgrades:
-
+1 Stamina Bar when cast
- Max Health Penalty lowered
- Can be cast whenever disarmed by Ultimate regardless of proximity to the plant.

When this ability is active, Tobias' voice lines take on nearly a different personality entirely since the plant is directly controlling him.

Ultimate: Mean Green Mother
Tobias channels the ability, digging a hole in the ground and setting the plant inside, causing it to rapidly grow. During this period, Tobias will be disarmed, and any abilities casted will be relative to where the plant is located. (i.e., if an ability has a 10m range, that range will begin from where the plant is at, not where Tobias is located.)
The plant will begin snapping at nearby enemies, dealing spirit damage along with an AOE slow around the plant. If the plant kills/assists an enemy during this time, it will gain a stack. Each stack increases the size of the plant's model during the ultimate and the area it covers.

AP Upgrades:
- AOE Slow Radius Increased
- Additional Bullet Resist Based on how many targets The Plant has hit.
Non-Hero Targets give +0.5% Bullet Resist, Hero Targets give +5% bullet resist each.
- If enemies stand in the plant's slow radius for more than five seconds, the plant will immobilize them for a short period of time.

Backstory:

Tobias once expected himself to inherit his father's farm, a large agricultural boon to the country. However, this dream was short lived. As time went on, the region would turn into a dustbowl, continuous storms and blight killing nearly every crop in sight. A weekslong dust storm would tear through the region, pinning his family inside and cutting off any chance at getting help. If the starvation didn't get them, the dust from the neverending storm filling their lungs did. What was once a farm that fed almost a third of the country was now a dry, desolate place with nothing growing other than bacteria on a few fresh corpses. The only survivors were Tobias and his sister, who left the west behind for the Cursed Apple, where a few distant family members offered to take them in.

Tobias would forever live in the shadow of this tragedy, coping the only way he knew how, throwing himself into research, motivated to make sure nobody ever faces a similar fate. His effort would eventually go noticed by scholars at Columbia University, who offered him a scholarship to continue his studies using their resources. While at Columbia, he would broaden his horizons, discovering occultism and its uses for agriculture. Just a few incantations and he watched as a sprout sprang to life before his very eyes.

Tobias gleamed at his creation, he couldn't believe what he had done. With this, he could solve world hunger, plant life could sprout no matter what conditions, but before he could pick up the phone to beckon his fellow scholars to the greenhouse, he heard a soft whisper from the plant.

"Feed me..."

Months have passed since that day. Every morning, Tobias awakens to find himself covered in dirt and blood. Mouth tasting of chlorophyll, strange new bruises all over his body... As time goes on, Tobias finds himself forgetting more and more, losing control of his actions and thoughts, and the plant's words growing clearer and clearer. What he once viewed as a beacon of hope, a potential savior to thousands... was now a curse. A curse that forced his unwilling body to walk the streets of the Cursed Apple at night looking for victims, looking for unwilling denizens to mutilate for plant food. The plant grows with each victim, its influence over Tobias strengthening after each meal. In his brief moments of lucidity, Tobias' mind races, wondering what horrors await New York if he allows this to continue...

Unable to kill the plant by conventional means, Tobias seeks to complete the ritual to rid himself of the plant and its control over him. Although, it's unclear if getting involved in the ritual was his own idea, or if the idea was unwillingly planted in his head...

Potential interactions:
Dynamo, who pries about his sudden departure from Columbia, Tobias telling him 'you'll understand in a second' before the game starts.
Drifter, offering constructive criticism and trying to talk shop, to Tobias' disgust
Vyper, ditto^
Haze, hinting that the OSIC is on his trail, Tobias explains that if he isn't able to rid himself of the plant by completing the ritual, he desperately hopes the OSIC can at least kill them both.

I like it cause its a support archetype that thrives in offense. Abilities reminds me of Venomancer and Shadow Shaman combined from Dota. I think its fine for the Ult to be non-channeling and not disarm.

The way I would change it is make it similar to Shadow Shaman's Serpent Ward where it has a set duration and can be destroyed by bullets (lets say decays in 30s and 15 bullet hits) before it goes back to Tobias as a small plant again.

I can see the gameplay loop of starting with 3, then you move to the desired enemy hero/teamfight, cast your ult, cast your 2, then cast your 1 to high priority hero needed to be killed.

Design-wise, I like the ult being a big piranha plant so hopefully it gets added.

Venomancer was actually the inspiration for the seedlings! Glad someone picked up on that.

Honestly I only thought of disarm for the ult because of lore reasons since I had the idea of his primary fire being the plant itself spitting at enemies similar to how the wards do. Just giving him an actual gun would probably make more sense though.
