This is a long one, so apologies in advance. I spent quite some time on it, so I would appreciate feedback

Sourav

Dollmaster - Information - Control

Weapon: cane rifle - an ordinary looking, slightly worn-off cane with a hidden mechanism that allows it to shoot high-velocity needles

Backstory:

Sourav Veillence grew up in a wealthy family that moved easily among high society. After the First Maelstorm, his parents became obsessed with collecting occult artifacts. The Veillence estate slowly turned into a private vault of strange and dangerous items - most of them poorly understood, none of them questioned.

That lasted until something went wrong.

Officially, it was a failed theft. A long-time servant, frustrated and underpaid, allegedly tried to steal from the collection. According to reports, he triggered some kind of unstable artifact, causing a violent reaction that destroyed large parts of the estate and killed everyone inside.

That’s the version that made it into the papers.
Other details didn’t line up.
Neighbors reported hearing voices before the incident - more than the household should have had. Some claimed the damage looked too contained in places, too deliberate in others. The servant’s body was never properly recovered. And whatever caused the reaction didn’t leave behind anything the authorities could clearly identify.
Still, the case was closed quickly. The collection was seized. End of story.

Sourav wasn’t there when it happened.
By the time he returned, there was nothing left but ruins and a version of events that felt… convenient.
They missed one thing.
Buried in the wreckage, Sourav found a belt containing something bound inside - a presence that called itself nothing, but listened to everything. He came to know it as the Eater of Secrets.
It didn’t offer revenge or comfort. Just awareness. It showed him what people hide - intentions behind words, meaning behind silence. In return, it wanted access to everything he learned. Sourav agreed.

When he returned to society, people said he had changed. Quieter. Harder to read. He leaned into it. Started bringing small, handcrafted dolls to gatherings - gifts for friends, acquaintances, anyone worth watching.
They kept them.
They talked around them.
The dolls listened.

Over time, they became more than tools. More lifelike. More responsive. And Sourav’s control over them - and sometimes over people - became harder to ignore, even if no one could quite prove it.

Still, something didn’t sit right.
The story of that night has gaps. Missing pieces neither he nor the Eater can fully uncover. And that’s a problem - because if something can stay hidden from both of them, it means it’s being hidden on purpose.

That’s where the Patrons come in.
They know things. Or at least they have ways to uncover them.
The ritual isn’t about power for Sourav. It’s access. A chance to get closer to whatever truth is still buried - and everything that might be hiding behind it.

Because at this point, it’s not just curiosity.
It’s a need.

Personality: Sourav is intelligent, meticulous, and trusts nobody, he is driven by a need for knowledge and control. Quietly paranoid, he doesn't get emotionally attached, observing everything with cold precision and a calculating mind. He has no problem with lying if it may benefit him long term.

Looks: Sourav wears a classic, tailored suit beneath a long, heavy overcoat, from which hang faint, magical strings. A belt around his waist holds a feral feline-shaped clip with a sapphire at its center - the vessel of the Eater of Secrets. He is in his early twenties.
