I had this thought last night in bed thinking about the overall cast of the game and how it leans heavily into the 1930's w/ occult theme. We've got werewolves, we've got vampires, we've got animal types, sorcerers, etc.
I was then thinking how we have 'Ixian's' like Abrams, Infernus, and now Apollo who come across as your friendly 'devil' types but we don't have any 'angel' types to counteract them.
Now that we have Venator coming into the mix as a gun-toting Vatican Priest, I had the thought what if we had a 'Angel' type character who was less 'Angel' and more like a like Wraith.
Backstory - Miles
When the Maelstrom tore open the sky, countless beings were dragged into the Cursed Apple... demons, monsters, and everything in between. Miles was one of them. Once a radiant, celestial guardian, he emerged from the Maelstrom changed: his once‑white wings now mottled with ash‑gray feathers, his halo cracked and flickering like a dying bulb.
Among the city’s occult denizens, Miles struggled to find his place. Some mocked him as a failed angel, others treated him like a living relic. Hoping to reclaim purpose, he sought refuge within the Church, believing he could serve alongside others who shared his origins. But his appearance marked him as an omen rather than a savior.
To them, no true angel would look like that. They cast him out.
With nowhere left to go, Miles drifted into the underbelly of the Cursed Apple. One night, he stumbled upon a young mother cornered by a gang in a narrow alley. Instinct took over. Wings flaring, halo burning bright for the first time in years, he drove them off.
In that moment, Miles understood something simple and painful... he might never return to what he once was, but he could still protect. If he couldn’t fulfill his original divine purpose, he could carve out a new one as a silent guardian for the weak, the lost, and the forgotten in a city drowning in sin.
Reason to take part in the ritual
Based on his backstory it may seem like Miles has accepted his new role in life... however the temptation of summoning the patron to get himself home is tempting.
Looks
I'm not great with art - but envisioning Miles as a gangster-like angel with ash-gray wings who hides his broken halo under his gangster hat. He wears a white pinstripe suit. He has blonde hair, maybe a short goatee, and is attractive in an anime sense. He goes into battle akimbo with 2 6-shooter revolvers.
Abilities
1) Holy Fire
Brand a target, dealing Spirit Damage over time and lowering Spirit Resist. Attacking a target with this brand heals the player for a small amount of health.
2) Disengage
Miles vaults backwards into the air with his wings. Activating this skill again while airborne causes him to divebomb a targeted area, dealing spirit damage.
3) Sanctified Armaments
Whenever you heal yourself or allies you store this energy in your weapons. At full power your next shot deals increased spirit damage and applies a short mini-stun in a small area of effect.
4) Icon
Burst open with radiant light increasing your bullet resist and spirit resist while also applying regeneration to yourself and any nearby allies.
