Overview

Theme

  • Think “Disney princess” archetype who refused her destined story.
  • Her act of rebellion (good or evil) earned her the Storyblade, a magical two-handed sword infused with ancient ink.
  • Storyblade looks like a sword mixed with an ink pen.

Narrative Flavour

  • Gained Storyblade through:
    • Innocent rebellion (wanted freedom) with terrible consequences.
    • Intentional mischief (experimented with ancient magic) with careless consequences.

Ritual Reasoning

  • Innocent rebellion:
    • Participates in the ritual to reclaim control over her own destiny, which the Storyblade has begun to shape and to undo the mistakes of her past.
  • Intentional mischief:
    • Engages in the ritual to expand her mastery over the Storyblade, the ancient ink and all stories themselves.

Weapon/ Basic Attack

  • Melee slashes with ‘Storyblade’.
  • Each successful attack builds Narrative Momentum (smaller amounts from minions and towers, larger amounts from heroes).
  • At thresholds (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) attacks gain extra effects:
    • While aiming (right mouse button and attacking), you can fire ink projectiles if you are at least 25%.
    • Ink projectiles that scale in damage, speed, small AoE but also cost based on thresholds.
  • Possibly give her ammo to limit melee spam.
  • Core concept:
    • The more engaged in combat, the more powerful she becomes.

Ability Kit

1 Exclamation (Offensive).

  • An aimed thrust of Storyblade, sending you in that direction, dealing damage.
  • At thresholds (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) this gains:
    • 25: [expand].
    • 50: [expand].
    • 75: [expand].
    • 100: [expand].

2 Plot Twist (Offensive + Support).

  • Targeted area ability that creates a zone that affects enemies and allies within it:
    • Enemies inside:
      • Take DoT spirit damage.
    • Allies inside:
      • Gain minor buffs (movement speed, attack speed or shield) amounts based on this spirit damage.
  • At thresholds (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) this gains:
    • 25: [expand].
    • 50: [expand].
    • 75: [expand].
    • 100: [expand].

3 Narrative Momentum (Passive).

  • Basic Attack and Ability damage build up this value (ability damage is at lower values).
  • At thresholds, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% apply bonuses to weapon attacks and abilities.
  • This value depletes over time down to each threshold and after a delay continues down more to 0.
  • Uses of abilities and projectiles while above at least 25% drains it, the higher the threshold the higher the drain rate.

4 Chapter’s End (Ultimate).

  • Consumes any and all Narrative Momentum.
  • A targeted hero in range is covered in pages of stories.
  • These pages build up to cover the hero fully and explode one by one in spirit damage in an AoE dealing damage to the target and those around them.
  • If allies are within range of these explosions, this grants them minor buffs (movement speed, attack speed or shield) amounts based on this spirit damage.
  • Narrative Momentum alters the amount of pages:
    • 25:
    • 50:
    • 75:
    • 100:
  • The idea is to punish really tanky heroes that dive your team, or at least help your team try to survive.
  • [Feels like a repeat of Plot Twist].

Strengths/ Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Supports allies indirectly through offensive abilities.

Weaknesses

  • Could be too Narrative Momentum dependent.
  • Limited mobility to avoid constant dive in and dive out frequency.
  • Most likely is not new player friendly.

Flavour

Paige could take an interest due to her nature, or whatever the princesses name is could be tempted to alter Paige’s books?

I think narratively another way the character could be taken is that the book they came from was from a much maligned, cult classic story. A passion project of a dead author whose creation springs to life, the character being brought into reality by the Maelstrom... and dealing with all that entails. Potentially, she would have background with Billy and Paige, as Paige knows (and dislikes) the book, while Billy is very vocal about how much people hated on it but never read it and he read it blah blah blah.

Also, suggestion on the weapon name; Rising Action.
