In a world filled with the occult, getting packages from point A to point B, can be a difficult task. But one man has the skills to do it. Herald uses his superspeed to cover all the delivering needs of New York all on his own.

Lore:
From a young age Thomas Brown knew he was unlike most kids, he could ran far faster than the other kids his age, and the older he grew the faster he became. In his early teens it was already undeniable that Thomas had been gifted with superspeed. During his teens and young adulthood the American government tried to recruit him multiple times. But Thomas was not interested, he didn't want a life of suspense and excitement, he just wanted to help the people. So when he realised he could use his powers to deliver mail for his entire city, he knew he had found his calling.
He soon replaced the entire postal office on his own, becoming known as The Herald of New York. He met a beautiful women, created a family, and Thomas was happy. But one day, he encountered the only thing he could not outrun, death. His wife had gotten sick, and died just days later. Leaving Herald's perfect life, in pieces. But then, the patrons arrived. Giving him a way to bring his wife back. So for the first time in his life, Herald would take up arms, and fight.

Gameplay:
Herald has an "in and out" type playstyle. Delivering Explosive packages to his enemies, and then rewinding out, eventually together with a teammate.
Similar to how Celeste has reduced gravity, Herald also has a special modifier. When sprinting he accelerates at 3m/s instead of the usual 0.6m/s. This combined with his sprint speed scaling with spirit power makes him one of the fastest characters for traversing around the map. Which he can use to roam, and then quickly run to his teammates if they need help.

Weapon: (The Message Sender)
His weapon is a special device that can shoot out letters with high precision. (check weapon stats above.)
(For the nerds who want all the stats, his reload speed is 2.5s and his bullet velocity is 170m/s.)

Ability 1:

Explosive-Package-1773342459.png

The Explosive Package deals high damage, but is also one of the hardest abilities to hit in the game, due to it having a long fuse time. One of Heralds other abilities does make it easier to hit though.

Ability 2:
Light-Speed-1773413673.png
Light Speed allows Herald to play more agressive, with a get out of jail free card, and is essential to save himself and his teammates.

Ability 3:
Courier-s Pouch-1773339707.png

Herald uses Courier's Pouch to transport teammates, and save them from a sticky situation, combining Courier's Pouch with Light Speed is the best way to get a teammate out of danger. It's also really good for making your Explosive Packages easier to hit, as you can pick them up, and throw them when they are about to explode.

Ability 4: (Ultimate)
Time-Burst-1773339702.png

Powerful crowd control ult. makes it hard for enemies to escape from Packages and makes them do way less damage against your team. Fully upgraded you can also use the ult to dodge big enemy abilities.

Notes:
This is my first fully fleshed hero concept for the game, and i've tried to make it interesting yet balanced, but it's hard to make perfect balance without testing, so all the numbers are just rough guesses on what would be balanced. If you read this far i just wanna thank you for reading, and if you have any feedback or questions i'd love to hear your thoughts! :D

Some of my friends asked if the ult would also slow enemy durations, so they lasted longer, due to them being in Slow Motion, the simple answer is no.
It would be too trolly and could make you accidentally (or on purpouse) put your team in a 8 second Dynamo ult or something.
Just thought i would clarify that.

He looks amazing. Really nice kit that works with itself. Also, what tool did you use to make the abilities and stats, is there a hero maker I'm not aware of?

I use a website called "Deadmock", you can search it up, or find the post for it here in the forums. And thanks for the feedback!

Explosive packages you say? Sounds like an opportunity for an anachronistic historical reference to the October Crisis.
Lmao, that would be pretty funny. Personally i had the idea of a Unabomber skin, but i dont know if that would be too political for the game.

Also I think he could have some fun dialogue interactions, especially with paradox due to them both having time/speed kinda powers. Also it would be really fun for all the characters to just complain to him about their packages being late lol.

I think Explosive Package is just Bebop's bomb with worse feature, and just carring it around also seems like Bebop's self bomb strat.

BUT Time burst might be very interesting with some tweak, like hastening ALL allies' action speed(fire rate, movement speed, reload speed, etc - Similar to Time Zone from Faceless Void[Dota2]). This might include hastening Package's fuze time so it can explode much earlier with proper setups.

My one nitpick is lorewise, we know the Patrons cannot revive the dead in any fashion - It might have been an old sapphire flame/amber hand line, but I know SOMEWHERE it's said the patrons cannot revive the dead - but I like the concept a lot!

I think you’ve misunderstood the purpose of the package then. It’s not only for raw damage (unlike bebop), it’s more about taking huge amounts of space, and if the enemies don’t respect it they take a lot of damage. He’s supposed to be more of a hybrid character that can support his team, but do so through the threat of dealing high burst damage, by forcing the enemies to take a step back. Thanks for the feedback though!

Oh I was not aware of this lol, definitely gonna look into it. I’m probably gonna do an updated version anyways at some point, so I might rework the lore then. Thanks for letting me know!
