Cynthia The Eldritch Invader In A Lab Coat
Hunger - Invasive - Beyond

Goal: Create a hero concept that reminded me of The Absolute Solver from Murder Drones.

Appearance: Cynthia is an average height woman, with a slim build. She has wavy black hair that is pinned up in a bun. She wears a long white lab coat with black pants and wears a surgical mask over her face. If you watch her closely you can see movement under her clothes where there shouldn’t be.

Weapon: Cynthia wields a shotgun as her weapon. It reloads round by round.

Ability 1: Devour Matter
Cynthia targets a lane minion or a jungle creep. She executes them by eating them, heals a set amount, and gains a stack. She can have a max of 6 stacks that last until she dies or uses another ability; her other abilities are amplified based on how many stacks she has.

Ability 2: Reap the Flesh
Two dark tendrils tipped with scythes burst from Cynthia’s back and lunge straight forward dealing spirit damage to enemies up to 15 m away. She then moves one to the left and one to the right, dealing half damage to enemies in a cone.
If Cynthia activates this ability with stacks of Devour Matter it will consume the stacks, then Cynthia will swipe her blades again depending on how many stacks she had. (0 stacks = 1 swipe, 1 stack = 2 swipes, etc.)

Ability 3: Invasive Outgrowth
Cynthia chooses a target location up to 30 m away. After a short delay a tentacle of black liquid burst from the ground. Enemies within the 5 m diameter are knocked up and take spirit damage. If Cynthia has stacks of Devour Matter when she casts this ability then she can summon an additional tentacle per stack she has (Think of it like Mirage’s 1). Tentacles are translucent, are able to be moved through, and stay above ground for 4 seconds before disappearing.

Ability 4: Reconstitute Allies
Passive: The location of an allied hero's death can be seen by Cynthia, this mark lasts until they respawn.
Active: Cynthia targets the mark of a teammate who died recently. After channeling, Cynthia possesses the body of the dead teammate, gaining access to their abilities and weapon, but uses her own items. While in this state she gains a second health bar that rapidly decays, if it runs out she is ejected from the body. If she kills an enemy hero while in this state, her ally is respawned at the location of their death. If Cynthia has stacks of Devour Matter while casting this ability, then she gains 2% damage reduction to her temporary health bar for every stack she has.

Lore: Cynthia Phillips was born a daughter of two geniuses, and it was clear from an early age that she would easily surpass her parent’s intellect. Shortly after graduating, Cynthia was hired on at Fairfax Industries as a lead for one of their R&D teams. This was where she met her greatest rival, Maggie McGinnis. No matter what she did, her team always came in second place when competing with McGinnis’ team. McGinnis’ prototypes were always more powerful, faster, or just cheaper than anything Cynthia’s team produced. Cynthia, who was accustomed to always being the smartest person in the room, found this absolutely unacceptable. Second place finish after second place finish wore on Cynthia and she eventually started using dangerous methods in her tests. Unproven magic, experimental methods, cutting corners in the safety of her designs, nothing she tried ever got her the first place she coveted so much.

One day, using a method most experts would call highly dangerous, something broke. Not with the experiment, not with the testing equipment, but with reality itself. Cynthia’s reckless methods caused a crack in the universe to form for the briefest of moments, and in that time a drop of something slipped through the crack. Within seconds, the drop expanded and consumed all matter in the room, reducing every one and every thing into its basic atoms. Luckily for the world, the arcane wards around the testing room held the Invader within. Seeing that it couldn’t escape, the sentient black liquid condensed its form into a human shape, and the form it chose was Cynthia’s. After convincing a passing janitor to open the door to the lab so that it could escape, “Cynthia” fled into the sewers of New York City. That was several days ago, nobody knows exactly what drove “Cynthia” to participate in the ritual, all we know is that whatever it is, it must not be allowed to happen.
