Lore

An oversized hawk hunts near a private metal refinery owned by a tinkerer. It tracks a rat into the building. The hawk swoops down to catch the rat, but the rat jumps into a vat of molten metal.

The rat dies on impact and floats on the top. The hawk swoops in to grab the rat, but as the wings and talons touch the molten metal, it's overwhelmed by pain and is quickly absorbed into the metal. Later on, the tinkerer finds the hawk and pulls it out, with the rat still clutched in its talons.

Miraculously, it still has brain function, and the tinkerer has a crazy idea to bring it back to life in order to let it continue hunting, although some challenging alterations must be made in order for it to hunt again. But to the tinkerer... challenge is what he lives for.

After his experiment proves successful, the tinkerer gets bored and moves onto other projects, so he names him after the model of engines used, Cooper Avionics CA-7247b, and lets him fly free to continue satiating his primal urges.

Design Characteristics

Hero model details:
-Metal coated hawk with small jet engines under its wings.
-Completely silver and metallic, but retaining characteristics of a hawk.
-Hinge on front of neck to allow its head to flip forward during ultimate on ally to prevent headshots. Originally used for performing maintenance.
-Guns attached to the front middle of each wing, with magazines next to them protruding outward.
-Bird band on leg with a note from the tinkerer on what to do if found inoperable.

Animations

Standing animation: Wings closed at side standing on feet.
Movement animation: Quick hops forward similar how small birds hop.
Dash animation: Quick jump flap forward.
Slide animation: Uses one of his wings to slide.
Backwards slide: Flips over and slides on back.
Melee: Beak peck
Reload animation: Brings his wings forward so that the magazine on each wing goes into the gun on the opposite side, (similar to gun movies where, when dual wielding handguns, the magazine is sticking out of the waist, and after the empty magazine is discharged, the gun is slammed onto the waist, but in this case its wings slamming into each other).

Skills

1: FEATHER SAW: Instant cast AoE damage around the player

Cooper stands on one leg and spreads his wings, firing his engines in opposite directions so that he quickly spins, and uses his sharp metal wings as a saw to slice everything around him. Similar to Timbersaw's Whirling Death.

Skill point buff: Does increased damage based on the number of NPCs and players hit. Multiplier for damage is higher with enemy players than with NPCs.

Usage: Camp clearing, wave clearing, wave harass, AoE teamfight damage.

2: GALE ENGINE: Movement ability- Channeled flying ability.

He activates his engines which thrusts his whole body forward, and spreads his wings to control his direction. Controlled similar to Grey Talons ult (can travel up,down, left and right like a bird). Flight speed increases when diving towards the ground. Wings close as diving toward the ground.

Skill point buff:

- Leaves a trail of metal feathers below that grants nearby allies bonus bullet resistance for a short duration if they touch them.

- Can cast again while channeling to get a secondary short burst of speed from his engines.

Usage: Used for initiation, escape, positioning. Excels at quickly initiating from rooftops.

3: EERIE SCREECH: Long range poke

Cooper lets out a loud screech in front of him across a large distance, dealing one instance of low-moderate damage and reducing movement speed of enemies hit. Fast aoe projectile which expands conically from the mouth.

Skill point bonus: Applies a stacking debuff that increases the damage the next eerie screech will do.

Usage: Ideally used from rooftops to target a large ground area. Less effective at close range due to the way aoe expands.

4: IRON MANTLE (ultimate): Close range ability, stationary (ally), save (ally), initiation (enemy)

He grabs onto friend or foe with his talons. The effect is different for ally and enemy. *Both ally or enemy will fall to the ground if currently floating in the air

If target is ally
: Ally becomes hidden under Cooper's wings and is invulnerable for a few seconds, and any heals Cooper receives are shared with the the ally. Both players can use active items during Mantle, but the protected hero can only self target, or target Cooper. During the mantle, he has increased bullet and spirit resistance similar to burrow. His head is also flipped forward on a hinge to be hidden, to prevent headshot damage

Usage: Save ability. Enemies can either try to burst down Cooper to get to the hero underneath, but if they fail, they risk a deadly turn around fight.

If target is enemy: He locks his feet onto his foe for a few seconds, applying stacks of bleed for the duration. The enemy can still shoot, cast non-movement spells, and move; but cannot dash, target him, or shoot him, as he is on their back. The camera is zoomed out for both players to show what is happening clearer and for less view obstruction. Cooper can still be attacked by towers, minions, and other players if in range while on an enemy's back, and takes increased damage from other enemy players as his wings are raised and vulnerable.

Usage: Initiation on isolated target, holds enemy in place for teammates to arrive. Risky to use in grouped teamfights or near towers since the enemy can walk towards it.

Skill point bonus:

Damage taken during the mantle gives stacks of "Metallic Shriek" with a max cap. When the mantle ends, the AoE screech is released in a spherical area, which reduces resistances on any enemies hit for a few seconds, and gives the mantled ally (if applicable) bonus damage and fire rate for a few seconds.

Full kit usage and synergy:

Ideal positioning is out in the open on rooftops to be able to poke with Eerie Screech(3). Then swoop down on enemies or allies with Gale Engine(2) to get into range for Feather Saw(1) or Iron Mantle(4). Can continue chasing with 2 and doing close range damage with 1, or reset with 2 and continue poking with 3.

Inspirations:

Pokemon - Skarmory, Corviknight
Monster Hunter - Shrieking Legiana
Dota 2 - Phoenix, Timbersaw, Winter Wyvern
Nosgoth - Sentinel gameplay
Pilotwings 64 - Birdman gameplay

If there is interest in this concept, I can flesh out more detailed stats/skill upgrades. This hero concept kind of ended up being a "support oriented Mo and Krill", but having more base verticality at the cost of less damage, and the tankiness swapped from burrow to the ult. A Mo and Krill of the skies, if you will (my main btw).

Thanks for reading.
